Saw a similar article recently. My take: if men are taking care of the house, they should set the standard. If they want to live like bachelors, so be it.

Obviously this wouldn't fly. Women have a lot of stuff, and a lot of standards; but those are theirs. If having the stuff and standards isn't worth the effort, then have less stuff and lower your standards. Don't go forcing it onto men.

Why can't men have the expectation of women to be less worried about this stuff? But women can expect men to worry more? It's just modern conveniences, not survival.

My brother was a 'househusband' for a while because it made 'financial sense'.

He soon found a job because he found it demeaning, and he should be the breadwinner.

I'm not dissing househusbandry, just relaying what my brother thought about the situation.

To make men do more at home, women should start paying half of everything (bills, groceries, dates, etc.)

Surely this makes sense? From what I understand, even when women started to move into the workplace they were often still expected to take full responsibility for the household chores. While women doing 100% of household tasks is obviously fine when they're not working, it's not fair to expect them to still do so when they're also in employment.

I don't think this article is saying that men should be taking on the majority of household tasks; I think its just saying that women often find it difficult to balance full-time work with home responsibilities, so men may need to make more of an effort to split things equally.

Maybe we shouldnt set women in the workforce as the most important thing in society? Most women, most people generally, have jobs, not careers. They dont care much for them and find little meaning in work. Society should be more centered around the home generally, it's far more fulfilling
