It seems to me that they are mixing up correlation with causation. Couldn't it be that women who are more likely to blame themselves for their own problems are likely to fix it ("I am fat because of the choices I made") and the women who are more likely to blame other people are less likely to fix it ("I am fat because you fat shamed me").

Thoughts?
