It appears their dodgy behaviour has been a legal issue for quite some time now, there are articles dating back to 2018 where they've had to settle lawsuits for this kind of thing. Tinder like a lot of dumb companies that do this might end up virtue signalling themselves out of business.

If they also charge differently based on gender...that is discrimination and is illegal in pretty much the entire western world.

The Match Companies(the company that brings you tinder, match and several others) has been and continues to get sued regularly. They added some arbitration clause preventing further class action suits after they lost regarding boosts. There was a short window to opt out of the clause in late 2019.

Not sure if this is allowed here, but you can set your gender as a female and age 18, pay the like $9 usd. delete your account. Then make the legit account and restore your purchase to skirt this obviously unfair and unjust thing they are doing.

It's not illegal. It's a private company, and they can differentiate price and service however they want. The reason why they do this, however, is either to discourage a portion of the men from joining, or to encourage more women. I'd assume women are a fractions of the number of people who join. I don't see it differently from pubs making women pay less to avoid sausage fests 24/7.
