This "fatphobic" movement has to stop. People just don't want to promote obesity. It's literally and scientifically not healthy. That's it. We don't hate you, we hate your idea of fat is beautiful. It really isn't. You can be beautiful but your fat can't be. They aren't one and the same because you can get rid of the fat.

As person predisposed to slow metabolism, high blood pressure, and a weakness for pasta (lol) being overweight is definitely a choice I have all the genetic inheritance they spout out saying it causes their obesity but because of dieting and exercise I’m able to counteract all of it and stay healthy.

When i was younger I was pretty big and the whole fat people are beautiful thing I think stems from something I experienced.

Less of a I thought I was perfect fat and more of a “Ive given up trying to lose weight bc it’s so hard and just want people to say I’m normal like everyone else”

Maybe some people genuinely feel attractive fat but I’m sure if a majority of fat people were given a free instant get fit pass overnight they’d take it and be way happier in their new in shape body.

however, ofcourse, it is partially mental, because for the people that we have in mind here - it is an addiction. some addictions have physical aspects, but most of them are mental. denial and mental gymnastics surely point to the denial aspect of addiction.

What’s a “flox” and 100% being fat is a choice people make every day. I’m overweight by a small margin, spent 2019 dropping close to 100lbs then Covid kicked my ass back up 30 of them. Every day I choose to sit and work remotely instead of walk the same distance I once did to my office, to the office kitchen at lunch, around the kitchen table while my food was heating up, eating right, consulting my dietitian and physician on how my body is doing and what it needs.

Every day I choose not to do 30 min of light cardio, or not take in massive amounts of sugar. There’s sugar in damn near everything these days.

I had such a hard time losing weight, as a dude, you’re just expected to hit the gym looking fit, know all the routines, know all the weight loss tips. Googling for help is pointless, because you end up with marketing and dudes with blessed DNA telling you to take this or that... the honest to fucking god truth is... weight loss is hard as shit. You have to put in the work and it’s 1000% more a mental game than a physical one.

By day 5 I would say my body was fine with the workouts and change in diet. I was getting the nutrients I needed, started to feel full after way less of a meal.. but my god man, your mind... telling you to down that family size bag of Doritos or that just one Del Taco menu order won’t put you off track. I imagine this is a less extent of what addicts go through but on a far more difficult scale.

After 6-7 months of sticking mostly to my diet and exercise...(“chested” every day with 1 bottle of real sugar dr.pepper) I was able to drop the weight, feel better about myself...but ya know what? Didn’t matter, still saw the fat me in the mirror no matter how many people that I knew or didn’t complimented me. Still felt like I was doing this routine for nothing. It’s why I ultimately, when Covid came crashing down and in March our company sent us home I thought I would get into better shape since I had more time to work out, rest and recover. The stress of having to survive 4 huge layoffs, being one of only 4 people left in our department, and now not knowing tomorrow has me mentally drained.

On top of all this, it’s a cycle that’s hard as fuck to break. You know damn well just knocking out 10 minutes of good cardio like jumping jacks, running in place, some lunges or even a brisk ass walk and you’ll feel way better, but your mind tells your body... nah bruh just finish this episode or game and sip on that coke, you know how good it feels....

And all of that, at the end of the day, is a choice I give into and make. I don’t blame hostess for making delicious ass treats, Dr Pepper for their delicious ass real sugar Dr Pepper. I got me. There’s temptation all around, but everyone has a battle.
