I don't exactly want to be a SAHM, but once I have kids I want to work once a week part time and focus on my family while my husband acts as the main breadwinner. Growing up, my mom was a housewife and SAHM, and it was wonderful for me to always have her available. She kept my house happy and clean and lovely and my dad worked. The housework and child care was my moms job and bringing home the bacon was my dad.

I want to work part time because any time my dad had financial issues, it was scary to have no fall back plan. Part time work will give me a fall back plan in case my husband dies or if he goes bankrupt or something.

My question is, do men resent a woman who wants to mainly stay at home and view her as a moocher or something?

In this modern day and age, most men expect a woman to work full time. I am scared that if I become an almost housewife, my future husband will grow resentful of me staying at home and taking care of the babies and being at home while he works very hard, away from family to support us.
