Woman takes her son and moves to her parents during lockdown. Presumably the husband is now living alone and going to work while she has her family around. Yet the burden is all on her.

Repeatedly in the article she is understanding and sad for how the dad can't be with his son, and how he is home alone. Yes she is pleading her own plight, but I can't see that this is any negative portrayal of the father or that it is only about her. She seems to be apreciative of what he is sacrificing for her, and to get income for the family.

The only thing I would poke fun of:

“We left on the day. I didn’t know what to pack and it was essential items only for me. I got all of what I thought we’d need into one suitcase. I’ve only got three pairs of shoes for me. Instead I made sure I took Ezra’s favourite toys.”

Oh you poor thing, only 3 pairs?
I think most men (and many women) would manage with just one pair when they are throwing things together and going away for a little while.

If I had an immuno-compromised child, you could bet your sweet ass that my wife and I would have a very serious conversation about her potentially staying with her folks for a while.

I talk to Jonathan on FaceTime, but Ezra doesn’t always want to. So we’re sending daddy letters and drawings so he has something to come home to. It breaks my heart to think of him arriving home to an empty house.

That's really sweet of her. It seems like they're considering the father's feelings well. What a loving couple and great relationship!

A very long article describing how hard it is for this woman to be apart from her husband, despite her having her child and parents around. Not once does it consider how it is for the husband who is now living alone while still going to work.

Apparently she's the hero in this story.

This is not a men's rights issue, please keep your hatred for women out of true men's rights. The mother in this story didn't go behind his back for this, they both agreed to do whats best for their son. Is she in a better position in the situation, maybe, but that was just how the cards fell not because she had some advantage as a woman or he had a disadvantage as a man.

The article starts out fine, but then I wonder.

It was nothing they can do.

Well, maybe not nothing they could do.

Doesn't Jonathan get to decide? I'm not saying he wouldn't male the same decision or that it wasn't the right one, but shouldn't he have equal say?

Now her decisions IMO are negatively affecting the family, but I wouldn't doubt that this is why the decision was made in the first place si she could quit her job.

So there wasn't any reason for her to quit her job. She had people she could trust watching him.

Is that really consistent with the rest of her explanation? Everything is to keep the baby safe because he's really fragile.

Maybe it turns back, but this could be viewed different ways and unfortunately they didn't talk to Jonathan.

Getting to a point can take a lot of different routes. It was interesting that he got to that point even though he had gotten PPE. I'm not saying it's the wrong decision. I'm saying on a rational level, wouldn't that take you farther away from that point?
