I need to get this off my chest because Taylor Swift's latest video "the man" just really pisses me off.
First off, Taylor Swift is the daughter of Scott Kingsley Swift, a high ranking financial advisor for Merrill Lynch. Her dad purchased a 3% stake in Big Machine Records, and Taylor become one of their first signings. In other words, she got a huge shortcut because of the privilege that she rails against.
"I'm so sick of running
As fast as I can
Wondering if I'd get there quicker
If I was a man"
Well maybe you should be wondering if you'd get there at all if there wasn't a man throwing money at your career from the start!
Secondly, Taylor swift talks about how she'd be labeled "bad" for bragging about money, but she literally bathes in diamonds in her "look what you made me do" video. That tub was filled with real jewels valued at over $10 M. The man she's portraying in the video doesn't even do anything that extravagant.
Thirdly, and the part I take personally, wth is with the dad bashing? She portrays a man in the park with his daughter being celebrated for being a good dad, the message being that dads get too much credit when they put in minimum effort. I have so many problems with this, the main one being that Taylor has no idea what it's like being a dad. When you go to the park people don't celebrate you, they look at you and wonder if you are a perv and if that girl with you is actually your daughter. I am a new father so I have some experience with how fathers are regarded. We were gifted a lot of baby books at the baby shower, half of them have a mother and no father. We have an alphabet toy that says "M is for Mommy!". Guess what 'D' is for?? DRUM! Goddam DRUM! My own daughters toys and books refuse to acknowledge that dads even exist! and taylor acts like men get too much credit, give me a fuckin break.
And that's not even mentioning how when i am parenting people act like i'm some extra unnecessary part of the equation "babysitting". God this video is so out of touch.
Then there's also the depiction of the gold digger at the end, like that's some kind of great insight into male toxicity. What is she even trying to say here? Men deserve criticism for valuing youth and looks? I mean to an extent sure, but what about the gold digger? Doesn't she deserve some criticism as well??
Taylor has no idea what it's like to be a man, no idea what it's like to be a father, and no idea what it's like to not have privilege. She's been privileged her whole life and she's the last person who should be the face of wokeness.
Rant over.

The song keeps repeating, "I'm so sick of running as fast as I can", but that is exactly what a man has to do his entire life. Men are human doings. We're valued solely based on what value we provide to society. A man can never stop running.
Also, in one scene of the video, a gold-digging woman marries an old man. Are we suppose to think the old man has it easy? He had to spend his life acquiring wife -- most rich men work 70+ hours a week every week. Meanwhile the woman just marries him, fucks him until he has a heart attack, and then gets his entire fortune. Who has the easy life?
This video seems to be about the delusion that women have regarding men having it easy, a delusion with no basis in reality. The vast majority of homeless people are men, yet more money is spent on combating female homelessness. Men are subject to far more violence than women are. Men commit suicide at far higher rates. And men have no in-group preference or the extensive support networks that women have.

In Taylor's defense, she really did have to struggle in life. She slaved at her career until finally she made it big at the ripe old age of 16 and then as she only made $4 million, she could only afford to buy a Lexus SC430 convertible rather than a Lamborghini.
You people just don't know how hard it is to live as a blonde-hair, blue eye, white girl with model looks and a rich daddy. I've watched Game of Thrones. These are the first people to die.
