I just wanted an honest opinion. There was no reason to delete the post. Sigh. I guess we're on our own. I think neither gender should be forced into a situation they don't want to be in. But, if forced, both genders should participate equally.

Women don’t want equality, they only want special treatment.

[–]oreverthrowaway 24 points25 points26 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"EQUALITY!! (without this, this, this, that, and oh! this too)"

Feminism fought for women to be allowed to become doctors, lawyers, cops and...duh...soldiers. So sad that you have so little knowledge if history. Before feminism women weren’t legally permitted by law makers (men) to become soldiers. So, read my lips...WOMEN WERE NOT ALLOWED TO BE SOLDIERS BECAUSE MEN BELIEVED WE WERE THE WEAKER SEX. Before you start sounding too stupid, you need to read a little history. Women make BETTER soldiers and cops than men. Men just detest having to take orders from women.

[–]Volgann 14 points15 points16 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"[...]Men believed we were the weaker sex[...]" "Women make better soldiers and cops than men" (Contradiction) "Men just detest having to take orders from women" (Assumpution/generalization)

[+]littlepaperfolk -25 points-24 points-23 points 6 years ago (21 children) | Copy Link

Women are also physically stronger than men and have a far higher tolerance for pain. We are better at war strategy too. I am reading in some of these posts that some of you boys will hide under your fathers’ apron strings if you face a draft. You sound pretty spooked about having to fight with the big boys. Please, leave it to women. We probably could have won Vietnam for you and those male vets wouldn’t have come home pissing themselves every time the porch door slammed...shell shocked, my ass. Just faking trauma after massacres like My Lai. Women would not kill over 500 unarmed old men, women, children and babies. But big strong male American troops did. Way to be proud, boys. Read your history and tell me how proud you feel now.

[–]Volgann 11 points12 points13 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Any fonts for any of your "women>men" "arguments"? (and if you are even gonna reply)Drop the insults please (especially when they are based on what you have on your pants)

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Idk about your ideas but a bit of RESPECT for the fallen men in Vietnam and other places. You have to learn history yourself. If those brave men didn't fight in Vietnam communism would spread in Asia then to USA. You owe everything to those men yet you disrespect them.

[–]sakura_drop 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Don't feed the troll, people.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I don't think she is a troll tho.

[–]NohoTwoPointOh 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Just an idiot. If she truly thinks women are stronger, why not remove gender divisions in sports? Or ask her why women can’t seem to pass the USMC officers course or the SAS trials. Her hamster will spin at hypersonic speeds trying to backpedal.

[–]sakura_drop 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Deeply stupid, deliberately antagonistic, ignorant of basic facts, makes claims with nothing to back them up, using vulgar language... Seems troll-y to me.

[–]littlepaperfolk -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

In the words of John Cleese in “A Fish Like Wanda”.....”they whooped yer ass real good” 😂

[–]littlepaperfolk -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Im not American. I owe US troops nothing. Btw....Vietnam WON. They are a communist state. So, by the reasoning of your forebears and by your OWN faulty reasoning, you SHOULD all be communist now. But you’re not, are you? And here you are, years later, thinking that the US won that conflict...when they were just a bunch of nosy busy bodies getting into everyone’s business and then still LOSING and running back home with tail between proverbial legs. Oh yeah...lots of winners and defeaters of the “evil reds” in retirement homes now. This is precisely why your golden president and the leader of your people LOVES the uneducated. Because he can poke you all into being so scared of foreign “threat” you will go running off to sign up, so desperate are you to appease the orders of the “men in charge”.

Oh wait...listen...that old lady in the house next door to you?? I can bear her gathering her weapons of mass destruction. So, put the hot dog down, switch off Dukes of Hazard, put up your socks and get over there...NOW

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Look , I am not American either and I know perfectly well that Vietnam won. And if you are not American then why are you you saying "we could have won" that is super illogic. And again learn history, Vietnam war prevented the Chinese sphere of influence from expanding. Stop praising reds, they killed 200 million people in camps. And your country is probably in the NATO and you do not live in a communist country because those brave men stopped the domino effect.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

And can you give me an example of "women war strategy" ?

[–]tempalt02 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Outcooking one another lmao

[–]NohoTwoPointOh 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Look at the number of Michelin restaurants run by men (compared to women). They are 2nd-rate in the culinary arts when compared to men.

[–]littlepaperfolk -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Tempalt02. Who’s “outcooking” who? Oh yes. That ace fighter pilot is Duff Goldman...oh wait, no. He’s the Ace of CAKES...He and Bobby Flay and all the other cookie bakers will sugar dust each other to death on the cupcake battlefield. You go, boys, show the Iranians what you got...they wont be expecting upside down cake😂🤣

[–]tempalt02 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Oi, lettlepaperfolk, the American conflicts are American. You assume everyone is American, eh? Well, fuck you, there are 200+ other countries.

[–]littlepaperfolk 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

CNN informs me that there are over 200,000 women in active-duty military, including 69 generals and admirals. I’m guessing that war strategy for females is just the same as it is for males. They all gather round a huge, ornate map spread on a huge, ornate desk, gesture to the miniature fleets on the seas and say “on the other hand, ladies/gentlemen, what if we gave a war and nobody came?”

Im trying to get the gist of this subreddit...do you WANT all genders to face the draft? Do you ONLY women and trans women drafted? I am unclear who you want to be drafted. It doesn’t really matter what the citizens WANT anyway. The easy answer is that it’s really up to the government to decide. Way back in the days of the Vietnam war, the government drafted men...not wealthy and important men...just expendable everyday men. As the roman emperors did back in the day. They could just as easily do that again. They could choose ALL American citizens over 16 years old, if the conflict goes on for years like Vietnam and the numbers of grunts are dropping. They won’t choose important rich folk, not celebrity chefs or pop stars, not pro hockey players or politicians. They will enlist the hordes, the masses, the regular everyday folk.

I get the sense that most folk on this feed want only women to fight? Or they want to suggest that women aren’t able to do anything but complain and sit back and wait for a man to do whatever it is they want done? I just can’t tell. Well, there are 200,000 women in active service right now. Willing and eager to get out the bayonets, I guess. Yay for them. If you are a man and you have a mother a female partner or a female friend or a daughter, wouldn’t you want them to be one of the 200,000? A general? An admiral? To fight for your president and his interests?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Can you give me source of this information? And North Korea recruits females too and they make the world's 5th largest army so I know it's possible. Can you tell me the "69 generals and admirals"? No one wants anyone to get drafted these are just joke/debates don't worry.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And you didn't say we are similar, you said women are superior please give an example.

[–]Elmowithafuckinggun 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Alright, go watch people get fucking bayonetted and shot into pieces and see how fucked up your psyche is afterward. Perhaps it actually won't be since you probably find pleasure in human suffering anyway. Way to disrespect people who often didn't even have a choice to get drafted. Go fight in a real war and then tell me about "how much men are crybabies"

[–]OtherwiseBowler 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Go fight then. Have fun in your yoga outfit and m16. I’ll be carving coconuts with banging weed. Fuck you have fun once more.

[–]littlepaperfolk -3 points-2 points-1 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I dont have a yoga outfit. I’m sure that none of the military folk are required to wear yoga outfits once they enlist. Thats like saying get out your Axe perfume and colourful neckties, lads; it’s time to fight! 🤣🤣

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Have you ever been to a 3rd world country yourself even as a civilian, you said "they pretended to be traumatized".

It's really not an agenda, just an honest question.

I'm actually curious myself what their answers would be. And not because I want to talk politics or equality or anything. I'm genuinely interested in their point of view.

Maybe you could try askreddit or something.

[–]Doxiemama2 9 points10 points11 points 6 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

I'm a woman and I'd like to know too, I'm an egalitarian and I believe women should be included in the draft.

[–]OneKnightOfMany 8 points9 points10 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I say make women be drafted and If not get rid of it (preferably get rid of the draft).

[–]Pioustarcraft 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

they would say "yes i would agree to be drafted because i'm good at supply chain management, administrative job and other non "front-line jobs" but i want to do my part equaly"

[–]BrandonCole84 5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ask women is the most ridiculously unreasonable sub i have come across on reddit. They would remove anything that challenges their gender. Period.

[–]Doogie76 10 points11 points12 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I identify as a woman so no draft for me. Problem solved

[–]NohoTwoPointOh 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

[–]Gloworm02 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well they’re not a debate sub what do you expect?

[–]zeerust2000 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"Soapboxing"? I love the way feminists invent special words to shut down anyone they don't like without, apparently, any need to explain further. Because you're doing a thing that has a word for it so it must be serious and stuff. Mansplaining, Whataboutism, etc.. And by 'love it' I mean I hate it.

[–]Empress_Rach 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I say out them in. There is more space for women now. Tech jobs and shit. It's basically an everyone job now.

I'd be in the science division sine I'm a bioengineer

[–]blank_stare_shrug 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The question was banned for two reasons.

A) The way you framed the question with sentences 5 and 6. Women do participate equally, where the physical requirements allow them to. If that reply came up in the comments, then you could have asked what was different or whatever.

B) They looked at your post history and assumed that you were "looking for a fight". Maybe you really were trying to understand the opinion of women, but the way you asked the question, again, made it sound like you weren't gathering information, but going to poke holes in feminist and matriarchal theories of power and privilege.

I reposted that question out of curiosity just now. I think it’ll get removed too but I’m interested to see if anyone answers

[+]ScrotumHair2 points 6 years ago [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link

Good luck. As other's suggested, maybe I didn't frame my question the right way. I have a "call it like I see it" mentality and I'm unapologetic about it. So, I could've been harsh with my question. Let me know what happens with your post.

[–]youhavebeenwobbled 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Check out all the hate I’m getting already

[–]Nillix 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The reason the post keeps getting removed is because it’s already been asked. A lot. Try the search bar. It’s not the “gotcha” question you all seem to think. Even the National Organization for Women supports a gender-blind draft.

[–]littlepaperfolk 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

As do I. And, like I said, if the Trump administration wants to force conscription on US citizens, it will. If he wants it to be gender free, and no-one but the frail, the octogenarians, the under 16s, sitting out, it too will happen and there wont be much the everyday citizen will be able to do about it, save running to the borders.

[–]Buchwild -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Seems like a legitimate question, I wonder why they deleted it

[–]Pioustarcraft -2 points-1 points0 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

your question is badly asked to be honest, no offence...
"Women who fight for equality, should women be drafted like men if WW3 started tomorrow ?"
That would have not been deleted

[–]SharedRegime -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

AHAHA removed for pushing an agenda holy fuck that is HILARIOUS.

[–]1LegendaryWombat -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

A personal agenda? It was a question. And not even one of those weirdly phrased questions.

Learning their justification on it might be a good idea. But I guess the mods are like most mods today, especially feminist leaning ones, which is to say, generally petty, echo chamber enforcers.

[–]ThreeLF -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Im sure you didn't mean for it to be, but that question was a guided question. The phrasing potentially discourages certain individuals from answering, and also manipulates the direction of the discussion prior to any contributions.

I didn't remove your post (obviously), but if you had just simply asked "How would you feel about women being included in selective service?" I'm sure it would have been fine. The way your question was phrased is adversarial at best.

[+][deleted] -13 points-12 points-11 points 6 years ago* (15 children) | Copy Link

I'm a woman. My honest opinion is I would feel much more comfortable entering the military under these conditions:

  1. No coed army. A female army and a male army. I get the impression that sexual harassment is rampant.

  2. Or instead maybe a 50/50 male and female army. I believe sexual abuse would be less if the demographics were equal.

  3. Maybe they changed it, but last I heard the way someone complains about sexual abuse is to report it to their direct supervisor. Problem is from stories that I've heard, the one abusing them was their direct supervisor.

  4. I heard they make women shower together. Why?? No.

  5. I heard they make you carry 80 lb packs all day. Can't. I can at most to do 60 lbs. Even that sounds like a nightmare even. Especially if I have to do it for a long time. I'm 5'6" not that even that petite.

  6. I heard from an ex Marine woman that being in the front lines made her have PCOS. Half of the women who have PCOS get it from hashimoto's autoimmune disease. But, the other half has more variables. PCOS is the number one cause of infertility in women. Turns out, when women do very intense male work, their body starts creating more masculine hormones according to this female Marine soldier. Being in the military made her infertile. I don't know if it's permanent. She also said she was in better shape than most women, but her body had a really hard time with it. Women aren't built for being in the front lines most of the time.

And this equality thing. You can't have children. We don't complain, you should grow a fetus in you.

I don't want equality for things I can't do. Just that I can do. Problem is with sexism, how will you know the difference between the two of you don't let them try without bias? Study bias studies. People have a hard time being objective. More than you think they do.

[+]5iveby5ive17 points 6 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

You have “conditions”? Oh, honey... That’s not how the military works.

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points0 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes, you men complain women don't do this or that but if we do it you harass us to death. Such hypocrisy. Men are delusional. My main issues were sexual harassment. Which is extremely, extremely high.

[–]SKNK_Monk 9 points10 points11 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"I was gonna save my home city from being invaded and our homes destroyed and our people murdered but like they make girls shower together? Ew."

[–]SharedRegime 8 points9 points10 points 6 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

I do hope you understand why youre getting downvoted and parodied

[–][deleted] -5 points-4 points-3 points 6 years ago* (8 children) | Copy Link

My main issues are rape and harassment. Men have a reputation for having no empathy so I guess you can't understand. These are serious issues. You are asking me to go to war when the enemy is on the same side. Do you have any idea of the horror stories I've heard of working with men? Any time I read an article or watch a video of from a female soldier it's horrible.

I'm half Brazilian and my older Brazilian relatives hate Americans. Because they think you are evil. Because they fought with you on the same side. The general in charge was American. He put only Brazilians. Not Americans in the front lines. They also would get mad at the Brazilian soldiers for helping starving citizens in Italy. The Americans wanted to treat civilians like they were soldiers to be taken down. Not even help the poor and starving.

My mom had trouble calling her uncle because when she does he yells at her. "Why are you with those evil people?"

He fought in the war. He's old enough to remember how Americans acted.

I remember how men treat women. Countless stories. Also like fighting with the enemy.

Men can't be civilized towards women. I'm not exaggerating. Watch any video on YouTube of a girl gamer and how she's treated. Look up oh my God it's a girl. Constant abuse and harassment.

[–]SharedRegime 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

I didnt ask for your life story. But my wife would very much disagree with you about men and women being able to be civil.

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points0 points 6 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Men are only nice if they want something. You want sex. Duh.

[–]SharedRegime 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Again, my wife would disagree with as would i. Im nice to her because i love her and nothing more. If youre bitter you only meet shitty guys maybe notice the flags and stay away from them Aka grow the fuck up and take some responsibility in youre life. Im not gonna say im the best person (nobody is) but im not hitler like youre making me out to be just because i have a dick.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It's that most men in America don't seem to believe in platonic relationships. They only speak to women because of business or if they want a relationship. They complain of being friendzoned. This makes men ostracize and ignore her at work and many other places. Women in male dominated jobs have a lot of trouble and often leave because of this environment of not seeing her as a peer or co-worker.

Current active duty US Navy submariner:

  1. Sexual harassment/assault in the military is an issue, but occurs at roughly the same percentage as in the civilian world. It just tends to be more headlined in the military.
  2. Same as number 1, but also a reminder that sexual abuse also occurs between people of the same sex. I'm currently stationed on an all male submarine and we've had cases of sexual harassment.
  3. This is definitely not true, at least for the Navy. The Navy's SAPR (sexual assault prevention and response) program has instruction on how you can report sexual assault/harassment. There are dedicated SAPR victim advocates who you can report to, as well as the SAPR coordinator. Additionally, you can report to any medical professional, any chaplain, your supervisor (assuming they aren't the problem), or any of the members of the command triad (the Commanding Officer, Executive Officer, and Chief of the Boat/Command Master Chief). You can choose to make an open report (where the full details are reported and you can pursue legal action) or a closed report (where the command is notified of who made the report, but not the details). In either case, you will likely be transferred somewhere else so as not to be working with the person anymore.
  4. The showers in boot camp are group showers (males and females separate, of course). Since then, all I've seen are solo showers. Btw, having someone watch you pee for urinalysis tests is way more awkward than showering with other people.
  5. 80lb packs are a frontline army/marine thing. Don't forget that there are 2 other branches (navy/airforce) that basically don't do that at all, and plenty of jobs in the army/marines that aren't frontline combat. Also, you will get into decent shape in bootcamp. Sometimes people show up not being able to do 5 pushups or run for 5 minutes without stopping and finish it by being able to run an 8 minute mile and 50+ pushups in a couple minutes.
  6. Here's part of a study they've done on PCOS in women in the military. Pretty sure that it doesn't occur more in servicewomen, and it is an issue that the military is investigating. Also, again, combat isn't the only role in the military. Every job you could have in the civilian world also exists here: doctors, nurses, lawyers, paralegals, chaplains, electricians, mechanics, IT technicians, administrative assistants, etc. Soldiers are a small percentage of active duty personnel.

Am I the only one that knows the draft hasn’t existed in decades? I just don’t get this entire premise of discussing something happening that won’t.

The draft hasn't existed in the same form as it was during the World Wars/Korea/Vietnam, but it exists currently as the selective service program.
The selective service program/system is used to maintain information on military eligible people in case the draft is reinstated and all males in the US between 18-25 have to be enrolled in it or face legal action.

That's surprising since I have a fucking draft card

Really. And you have to report where and when or be subject to arrest?

Lol, just because you can't imagine shit hitting the fan doesn't mean it is an impossible occurrence. I'd rather not have the government have me registered in their books as a meat shield the second the chinese land on the gulf coast.

Anyway, if it doesn't matter, let's just make women register too in order to vote. Fair is fair, right?

I believe that people who join the military voluntarily get to fight first. When they are all dead, send everyone...women, men and children 12 and up. Transgendered folk too, even though the US president has banned them from military service. But, given that the next big war will be WW3, why not just set off all the nukes we have? That would be a quick and easy death for humanity and no one would have to gimp across the battlefields wielding cumbersome weapons and looking like lame-assed G.I. Joes😂
