You are doing this for your own sake, not your son's. For you, admitting that there is anything bad about circumcision is like an attack on your own penis and your manhood. You are so emotionally weak that you would rather put your son under the knife than deal with unpleasant feelings. But we can't stop you if that's the father you want to be.

You seem to be blind to the hypocrisy that you supposedly support mens rights while at the same time saying you are going to deprive your child of his right to bodily autonomy and a normal functioning penis because...cultural and confirmation bias has taught people to prefer mutilated genitals

The reasons you give are

1: It's acceptable in the US.

2: Women seem to prefer it.

3: Men who did it as adults seem to prefer it.

1 is not necessarily true any more. The circumcision rate in the US was around 54% in 2009 and continues to decrease as more and more people learn that it's not necessary. Within 10 years your son will be in the minority.

2 is simply false. The vast majority of men on earth are not circumcised, outside of Muslim countries, and so the vast majority of women on earth do not prefer circumcised penises. Women who have sex with circumcised men are much less likely to orgasm and are much more likely to experience pain during sex as well.

3 is true, and not at all surprising, because those men chose to be circumcised. Would it be surprising that most men who get tattoos prefer having tattoos? Of course not. They had it done because they prefer it. That doesn't mean you should force tattoos on babies. You're forgetting the vast majority of intact men do not get circumcised and would not want anyone to force this on them. Just like the vast majority of men without tattoos do not get tattoos and would not want their parents to force tattoos on them either.

If you're really interested in learning more, there's a documentary on this called "American Circumcision" on Netflix. It should answer most of your questions, since it's mostly interviews with doctors and the results of various studies. 👍

It was a horrible mistake, and I just didn't know any better. I never thought about the why... circumcision was just part of having a boy.

When I actually looked into it... well, I've apologized to both of them and asked them not to continue this with their kids...

Of course they would say that. They don't have a choice. And what do you mean "prefer it". They wouldn't know any other way.

Look at the end of the day you are mutilating a child's penis. If you want to do that then you can according to the law. But hopefully for not much longer.

Many women who have been circumcised make similar claims of preferring it, their partners preferring it, and defend the practice on all around equivalent grounds.

I got circumcised as an adult and I basically can no longer come to orgasm with a condom on because you lose a huge amount of the sensation you'd otherwise get from your foreskin sliding around. Shit sucks, but it was medically necessary unfortunately.

Edit: Not sure why you find genital mutilation funny tbh, more popular types of FGM that still exist aren't that different from circumcision, in that they basically just remove some skin around the clitoris and/or labia to make things look a certain way due to cultural expectations. It's all pretty abhorrent to do to children.

People shouldn't perform painful and unnecessary assaults on their children, least of all for cosmetic reasons.

I have to agree with others that your enthusiasm for circumcising your son reflects your own psychology rather than anything else.
