We should do this everywhere. We could have diversity month where we hire all minorities into companies to satisfy quotas. The rest of the year we hire exclusively on merit. Then we can compare how the groups do.

Supposedly this happens a lot. I had a boss in the past who said he was only allowed to hire people of a certain gender and ethnicity to meet the companies diversity minimum.

It's a shitty situation for the companies either way. In a ideal world everyone would be hired per creditonls only, but that's not the case. If the company didn't hire more woman then people would say they're being sexist. Of course, them saying their only hiring woman for certain jobs is going to have the same effect.
