You knew it was coming: maybe the police shouldn't prosecute Asia Argento for statutory rape because other metoo survivors might not come forward with their stories.

If a woman seeks out 2 famous athletes and sleeps with them on the same night, the men are "guilty of vile misogyny." No word on whether the women are misandrists if a man sleeps with 2 women on the same night.

Woman chloroformed a man at gunpoint, drove him to another town, chained him to a bed, and raped him for 3 days in 1977. Journalists felt "the case provided 'light relief' for the newspaper-reading public, from more serious stories about politicians."

Men's lives literally don't count. HEADLINE: "Nigerian soldiers battle Boko Haram, kill 15, rescue 49 women, children." 10 PARAGRAPH LATER: "Four men, 33 women and 16 children were rescued by the troops from the insurgents’ hideouts."

If you're afraid of being called a rapist.. Don't rape people..

Isn't that one of the things they keep spouting? Why on earth would a legit nonce who groomed and had sex with a minor getting prosecuted make other "survivors" not want to come forward? Unless they're also child groomers or hiding something. The lack of logic is insane.

I like math...

Sexual harassment of women in the workplace is such a serious problem in the USA that the Times Up fund was created to pay the legal costs of effected women. The fund is acknowledged to have received in excess of $20 million and has received widespread publicity.

To date the fund has been contacted by a mere 3700 individuals seeking help.

From the article...

But Graves does not believe the accusations against Argento or Carlson will hurt the credib

ility of #MeToo or Time’s Up, because these movements are responses to a widespread cultural problem with deep roots. Time’s Up has been contacted by more than 3,700 people seeking help from the defense fund since the initiative went live on Jan. 1, Graves reports.

Statista - Number of employed women in the United States from 1990 to 2017

71,940,000 (2017)

3700 women from a working population of 72 Million women represents a response rate of...

0.00005143%

This percentage is very close to the percentage of workers killed on the job during the same period of time. The vast majority of whom were men.

It seems likely that the claims of rampant workplace sexual harassment of women are grossly overblown.

3 700/72 000 000 = 0.005143%

(These figures assume that the 3700 coming forward for free money actually had cases.)

How dare you use maths to disprove feminist ideology you misogynist! :P /s

One missing factor is the proportion of sexual harassment cases which are fought in court, which I imagine is extremely low since neither party wants the publicity. I have met several people sexually harrassed at work enough to make them leave, and have worked for many companies. I don't recall personally hearing of a single case of SH going to court though. (I can't recall a single case being taken to HR either).

Another is the proportion of those cases where the accuser meets the funding criteria,
and wishes to draw on funding that could have gone to someone else.

It will be 5000 applications by the end of the year.
How many years is the money expected to last?

Both women have been hailed for their courage in coming forward, and now both women are grappling with the downside of having a heightened public profile.

Yeah, honestly, if someone's a sexual predator, and she's worried about talking about her own abuse because her own disgusting behavior might come out and people might condemn her, she gets zero sympathy from me

As far as I'm concerned she can stay silent instead of playing the victim; or go public, have her own bad deeds be exposed, and be hated by the public for being a piece of shit. Either of those outcomes are fine with me. Though I'd rather everything be made public so that more people can be aware of this and stop believing in the myth that women are always the victims and men are always the abusers

I'm glad that at least there's a bit of rationality in the comments section, because the article is bullshit

[–]antilopes 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The article notes she denied having sex with him, but omits to mention that denial was wiped out by her texts released the next day. That is a serious omission.

Thanks a lot. That's going in my Menarehuman.com article on women who get away with raping young boys AND the one about them making false accusations.

[–]Meistermalkav 3 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Simple. Stop calling them women who disagree and start calling them sexual assualt and rape apologists.

[–]IronJohnMRA 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I hate this scare tactic. And I've yet to see any evidence to support it. The reason why is simple. It's something society hasn't done yet by and large, therefore there can't be any data as to what would happen in these proposed future circumstances. It's speculation and emotional manipulation. Not an argument.

The damsel in distress is a traditional method for women to access direct power.

[–]andejoh 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not prosecuting her might put male victims off of reporting rape, but those victims I guess don't count.

[–]tinyhands-45 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not completely dissimilar to the accusations against Christina Garcia, the problem isnt based on gender but rather an abuse of power.

[–]antilopes -1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There is no mention in the story of anyone suggesting that police maybe shouldn't prosecute Argento.
I have not seen that suggestion anywhere else.

I suspect OP made it up using parts salvaged from unrelated articles about prosecuting proven false accusations. He "knew" it was coming, so it doesn't matter that it has not actually come.
