I am not part of the MRM and I am not an MRA - but I have left comments and posts on here many times over the last few years and I have done it largely because I have a visceral reaction to political propaganda from whichever direction it comes from and I am particularly offended by the use of a deluge of outrageous lies and a barrage of bullshit.

Lies and bullshit are not only utterly poisonous, but also, ultimately, completely self-defeating. If you set a precedent where lies and bullshit are thrown around in the service of some ultimate good, then you open the door to far, far nastier people to take the stage (Jordan Peterson makes essentially the same point here).

So what has all this got to do with Julie "Kill men now, ask me how" Bindel displaying an extraordinary lack of self-awareness?

Well, in an article in Unherd from March 19, Bindel sets about bemoaning trans-activists in the UK for their bullying and aggression (bold is Bindel's)

In January 2013, the journalist Julie Burchill, angry about the abuse her friend Suzanne Moore had been subjected to on Twitter, wrote a column in The Observer with the heading ‘Transsexuals should cut it out’ [ ... ] Cue the deluge of invective [ ... ] transgender activists and their allies demanding the editor who commissioned the piece resign and calling for the column to be taken offline.

The column was withdrawn from the website the following day and a placatory statement, largely a retraction and grovelling apology, issued by the editor. The Reader’s Editor also wrote 1,300 words of apology, which was far longer than the bothersome column.  That same week, more than 100 trans rights protesters turned up to the newspaper’s offices with placards and loudhailers, clearly not even slightly appeased.

The McCarthyite hounding and bullying of editors who attempt to present a nuanced point of view about the transgender issue is enough to deter the majority from doing so.

This is their standard reaction to any attempt at the slightest critical discussion of the issue.

That feeling of disorientation you are experiencing right now is most likely your irony-meter unable to cope with the sudden input overload.

But she's not done yet.

So it’s no wonder that editors in print, radio and television are far more frightened of being accused of ‘transphobia’ than they are of upsetting the rather quieter feminists – myself included ...

There's more (how's that irony meter doing? That needle must be doing jumping jacks in the red zone right about now, huh?) - my bold this time.

I declined, explaining that I would rather be drinking wine and relaxing at home than be accused of fascism on live TV [ ... ] Meanwhile, the producer who had spent all day trying to book guests was subjected to horrendous abuse on social media for simply inviting commentators to take part in a respectful debate on the issue of what it means to be a woman.

That loud popping noise you just heard was almost certainly your irony meter fucking exploding after melting down as you no doubt remembered such scenes as this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, and maybe also this too in addition to dozens if not scores of other examples.

Now that your irony meter is no doubt a melted puddle of scrap metal, you might as well see what she says next (my bold):

A few years ago several feminists, including myself, were contacted by a journalist from a liberal newspaper asking for detailed interviews for a feature on “the war between trans women and radical feminists”. An equal numbers of trans women were also interviewed. But the article never ran. According to a reliable source, the editors decided it would be too much trouble to publish a piece on the issue, no matter how balanced it was. “Unless it is a piece in total support of transgender issues, with no dissenting voices, the complaints just get to much to handle,” I was told.

Unsurprisingly, most of the writers and editors I contacted for a quote insisted on being off the record, for fear that they will be blacklisted from publications if identified. All told me similar things: that whenever there is an even vaguely critical article written by a woman about transgender theory, there are huge, vicious attacks on social media and hundreds of emails and telephone calls to the editor.

Who, though, is brave enough to give a platform for the other side of the argument? At the moment, some are allowed to speak, and others are actively being silenced. What is this Orwellian nightmare our news media has enabled?

Yes, who indeed, Julie?

Who could have possibly imagined such a world in which opinions are silenced for fear of being labelled a fascist or a person possessed with an innate and virulent hatred of a designated identity group?

Where, Julie, where on Earth could such intolerance to differences of opinion have come from?

And, Julie, just who did enable our news media with this Orwellian nightmare?

And speaking of Orwell, just who is it that enabled this Comrade Napoleon and his hounds to your Snowball?

I'm guessing there aren't too many mirrors on the walls of the Bindel residence.
