Need better articles than this. This is just angry, opinionated yelling.

[+]JimmiesKerfuffled1 points 8 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

I agree. Articles like this only delegitimize this subreddit.

[–]Rethgil 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Something tells me there's an 'offended' Lefty response going on here that is nothing to do with Men's Rights.

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points13 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

This article is nothing more than a circlejerk of trigger words and talking points for the age 50+ Right-leaning community on Facebook. Not a single source cited. Pointing fingers at the Left, the Democrats, the "information gatekeepers" of mainstream media--all the usual villains du jour for the right.

[–]Rethgil 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Calm down! I'm Left wing and the article doesn't offend me at all. I'm an adult, perfectly capable of controlling my emotions.

The article lists many facts this sub openly stickies and agree with about the struggles men face.

Why are you freaking out right now?

[–]Rethgil 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What precisely is your problem with the article?

What made you interpret the listed facts about problems men face as 'opinionated yelling"?

Would like to hear your answers as I find your post very strange and pointless post by you. Especially as you are free to post something yourself instead of tone policing.

[+]kielly32 -13 points-12 points-11 points 8 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

Isn’t feminism mostly angry opinionated yelling? Fight fire with fire.

[–]soloxplorer 12 points13 points14 points 8 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Fighting fire with fire only results in a bigger fire, in this case. All these feminists and feminist sympathisers will do is point to the oppressive patriarchy if MRAs play those games. Best to take their ideology down with intellect, and not emotion.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Fighting fire with fire only results in a bigger fire, in this case.

That's how Feminism won. You're just whipping yourself over nothing. A movement that has no political representation should create as much trouble as possible.

[–]soloxplorer 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I'm not whipping anything here, nor caving into feminist rhetoric. All I'm saying is if you're going to play their game of ad hoc attacks, expect to be received the same way we receive. This gets us nowhere. Instead, we should be focusing efforts on dissolution of their ideology; point out and demonstrate everything that's wrong with it, and how elevating of one gender while denigrating of another gender is the same moral sexism they claim to be fighting against, yet continue to perpetuate.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This guy actually is doing that, but his rhetoric is tired, shitty, and he's essentially just shilling for tradcon values which are ultimately gynocentric. That's actually why he's useless.

be aware that "pointing things out" is not enough, and people do it all the time without effect. You either gain real political power and enact policy, or you lose.

[+]sceptico1 points 8 years ago [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link

Care to elaborate on just how the intellectual take down would be?

[–]soloxplorer -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I did a quick breakdown here, just in case it gets missed with the way reddit works.

[–]brickstick 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That doesn't work, then everyone is just yelling angrily. It'd probably be loud and unpleasant.

[+]BottomContributor1 points 8 years ago* [recovered] (5 children) | Copy Link

Feminism is how the corporate overlords have fooled women into working themselves to the ground and ending up childless to continue serving the corporations above anything.

It has made sure to destroy the salaries of men which used to support an entire family and not rewrite babysitters.

America is on a downward spiral and nothing will change because weak men will side with the feminist narrative in hopes of getting laid

[–][deleted] 28 points29 points30 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Although I’m sure a lot of men pretend to understand and support feminist causes in order to portray themselves as sympathetic creatures, worthy of mating status, it’s even more disturbing to see men who play that role for other reasons.

There is a disturbing number of men who are willing to throw themselves into the second-wave feminist echo chamber simply to appear “progressive.”

It’s a cheap and trendy wave to ride with nothing but upsides to those who choose not to scratch the surface of what the current feminism movement entails and the role it’s playing, alongside other victim culture movements, in the erosion of western democratic cultural values.

[–]randezvouswithrama -2 points-1 points0 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

This is pretty much the same kind of a myth as the wage gap myth: in a dynamic market economy they simply can't be true. Hopefully this misunderstanding won't become the "MRAs wage gap theory", that is, the laughing stock of anybody who knows how things work.

Go ahead an downvote, but it doesn't change the fact that increasing the supply of work doesn't lower earnings in the long run. If it would, every nation, whose population has grown, would have become poorer over time. And that's not what has happened, naturally.

[+]BottomContributor1 points 8 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

Incorrect. Population grows but also demand grows, so that's why it's sustainable. In modern countries you are doubling the workforce with women, so you are increasing competition. The demand for products remains equal. If you look back at child labor, it was outlawed because adults were losing wages to kids, not because adults were being kind to children

[–]randezvouswithrama -5 points-4 points-3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The reason why you are wrong you can read in any Economics 101 - or by thinking this simple fact: earnings are based (in the long run) solely on productivity, and increasing the amount of work doesn't decrease productivity ( in the long run), because firms always have to compete on productivity and those who lose will go bankrupt

Think about any successful firm that increases the number of employers. You seem to think that it's impossible without lowering the wages of the employers already working there. But that's not how it works. The same goes for the economy of a nation. You increase the number of Chines engineers and everybody's wages are likely to go up instead of going down. You increase the number of women and the wages are likely to go up as long as productivity keeps going up. And since the industrial and scientific revolution it has been going up.

The only way, how increasing work could decrease wages (in the long run), is when superior employees are replaced with inferior ones, but that doesn't happen in dynamic market economies. (Another way is to let an increasing share of the people to not work and still get public benefits which increases the tax burden - but that's another story.)

Besides, this theory has been tested numerous time. The result: increasing work (population growth, immigration) doesn't decrease earnings in the long run (at least not until the limits of sustainability are reached).

[–][deleted] 48 points49 points50 points 8 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

My opinion:

Feminism is just another tool of the political left- a social issue where existing culture gets undermined by leadership that masquerades as advocacy...

Men are indeed being targeted... straight men; mostly white currently... though minorities are on the agenda once the racism angle is thoroughly played out. We do not hear about supporting women who prefer traditional role (they DO exist) because that is not a useful cause. It has nothing to do with freedom or equality.

The demagoguery cannot provide for the rogue woman who wishes to be a stay-at-home mom allowing her husband to be the breadwinner and main decision maker of the household. The whole scheme includes hijacking bits of the language- words like equality and using them in ways not consistent with their true meaning.

It's currently a war on men but in the big picture it's a war on society. Currently the battles being waged include one against straight men.

[–]Pz5 38 points39 points40 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Feminists attack all men. Doesn't matter if a man is white black brown or yellow. If a rape accusation is levied, feminists automatically claim the man is guilty - regardless of his color. Its the media tends to emphasize the anti white male angle.

[–]Mode1961 11 points12 points13 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I call it "The battle of the Bulge", but you are correct, this is but the first battle, once they have completely destroyed the rights of men via things like "VAWA, Affirmative Consent, #METOO, etc", they will move on to women who believe in traditional lifestyles

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes indeed... and they'll move on from there as well... ultimately even to the groups they've brainwashed into believing in the advocacy they claim... useful idiots.

[–]ghebert001 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Feminism is communism in panties. Replace capitalism with patriarchy, disparity between classes with oppressor/oppressed mentality and gulags with family courts and you start to see the similarities.

[–]Isellmacs -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's cultural Marxism. It's origins are college feminists (or those who manipulate them) recasting themselves as the oppressed underclass fighting against an oppressive upperclass. Only they've defined women as the underclass and men as the upperclass, and disregard actual economic class.

[–]shifty_pete 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The "progressive left" thrives on weakened families. Destroying fathers and mothers working together is a thrill to them.

Feminism is winning at the expense of women. It's a cruel kind of irony; the more feminism crawls out of its shameful hole, the less happy American women are with their lives.

Feminism has strongly contributed to the idea that men are perpetrators and women victims, and played a large role in making the prison society we currently live in. With the number of prospective male marital partners being incarcerated, marriage rates are falling, and women's brothers, lovers, and sons are being thrown into hellholes created of part insufferable boredom and part fear for their lives.

It has told women to fear men, to not trust men, and to expect the worst out of men. It has told them to look over their shoulders periodically with keys balled up between their fingers, ready to strike when a man decides to unleash his primal instinct on them.

It has told women they have no agency, no true power, and no actual authority. It has given women pessimism in every respect of their lives, and told them that they will not be valued for the simply reason that they were born the wrong sex.

It has strongarmed companies into forcefully promoting women into high-stress 100 hour work week positions. It has encouraged women to put off having children for those jobs, and it has driven down labor costs in the United States, making single income households near impossible for the majority of Americans. It has lined the pockets of the super rich at the expense of the ever shrinking middle class.

It has socially ostracized women who are critical of it, yet told them that they have a mental illness for being so. It has told women that it is their only way to salvation, yet provided nothing but hardship for them in return.

Feminism has been a disaster for women's mental health. Happiness rates among American women have plummeted since the 1970's and are only going down further. One in four women in the US are on psych meds. We're going in a direction where feminists claim victory every day, but they're entirely phyrric.

Feminism is essentially a cancer infecting women's happiness. Why do you think the average feminist takes offense to every single thing? It's because they've been conditioned to do so. They've been told that oppression rears its head around every corner, and they've taken it to heart.

[–]Rethgil 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Thanks for posting this. Its important that we face the truth and see we have to redouble our efforts in our fight for men's rights.

Men are suffering at the hands of feminists and we've achieved a lot-but there's still a long way to go.

If feminism is a train, i think it can still be steered in the right directions and have its course corrected or assisted when prudent.

I don't think that saying, "Fuck that train and everyone on it!" is particularly intelligent or helpful.

If feminism is truly "for everyone," then, well, I think MRA should embrace that claim and help direct the train.

Heck, maybe a conductor or two should be fired or called out. Idk.

Either way though, i doubt much good comes from saying, "Fuck trains."

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points11 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Feminism is a runaway freight train that is on fire. There is no steering it, no reasoning with it, no Denzel Washington to stop the unstoppable. This train doesn't even have a conductor. The only way this ends is the train crashes and burns itself out. Feminism isn't for everyone and the feminists have begun making that point known. Eventually enough people will be sick of their shit as they turn on more and more people. So yeah, fuck trains.

[–]GuyWithTheStalker -2 points-1 points0 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Are the train and its passengers themselves bad, or is there a poison of sorts in this train?

Have you seen Source Code?

We could just make a new timeline and get a new train

...or agree to call social movements flocks of birds of varying sizes and types, with poor communocation between each of similar types, ditching the train metaphor altogether.

[–]tenchineuro 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

If feminism is a train, i think it can still be steered in the right directions and have its course corrected or assisted when prudent.

Traditionally, trains have been restricted to the tracks and can swerve neither right nor left despite what Bill Murray may have thought. Tradtrains I guess.

I don't think that saying, "Fuck that train and everyone on it!" is particularly intelligent or helpful.

You are the only one I've seen say this so far.

If feminism is truly "for everyone," then, well, I think MRA should embrace that claim and help direct the train.

Do you know anything at all about feminism?

[–]GuyWithTheStalker -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Traditionally, trains have been restricted to the tracks and can swerve neither right nor left despite what Bill Murray may have thought. Tradtrains I guess.

I dont get your reference, but i do know that trains can change tracks and go backwards as well as forwards.

Do you know anything at all about feminism?

I do, actually; I speak it fluently, believe it or not.

I also speak John Mayer fluently though, so I'm kind of a strange bird, I guess. https://youtu.be/sHhhTtqWcOM

I dont get your reference,

-- I'm betting he'll swerve first.

-- Bill Murray to (Ralph?) as they drive down the railroad tracks directly towards an oncoming train.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKJZVxpZBbs

About 3:30 in.

but i do know that trains can change tracks and go backwards as well as forwards.

I don't think the feminist train has more than one track or more than one direction.

I do, actually; I speak it fluently, believe it or not.

Wow, do you also speak hypothetical?

So tell me of your great success in getting feminism, or any feminist for that matter to support men or men's rights. Really, I'm pretty sure you got nothing, but feel free to prove me wrong.

[–]GuyWithTheStalker -2 points-1 points0 points 8 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link

Like it or not, we're all on this train together.

You can complain about the direction we're headed or the speed at which we're moving, but, well, if you don't actually take productive, positive action you're not actually helping anybody.

My advice to you, the same thing i told a girl years ago who wouldn't stop complaining about her friggin' life without actually doing anything about it is this:

Pretend your life is a movie, and you are the hero. Accept the fucking challenge; live your life authentically and as if a documentary crew was following you around everywhere (with your consent), documenting your every move; live your life in a way that will make your children say, "My dad was a badass dude; he really did what he had to do, and didn't comprimise his ethics in the process." Be that guy.

If there's a nihilistic dude running at you at the tracks which we're all traveling on together (like Osama fuckin Bin Laden did to the world trade center and America), drop him/her some dmb and show 'em nothing but platonic love; go ahead and crash into them (metaphorically).

Shiiiit... You could be that dude from Source Code, find the person who planned to mess up the train, have the authorities apprehend him/her, and start a new life for yourself.

Hell, you could be soooooo many fucking heros in so many ways.

Just complaing about this friggin' train without actually taking any productive, positive action is not heroic in the least though.

Soooo... How do you feel about the train? I'm on it. That's O-N-I-T. On it.

[–]tenchineuro 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

My advice to you, the same thing i told a girl years ago who wouldn't stop complaining about her friggin' life without actually doing anything about it is this:

Where have I complained about my life? You assume alot.

Just complaing about this friggin' train without actually taking any productive, positive action is not heroic in the least though.

Well then, that's just what you seem to be doing, complaining.

I asked you what you've accomplished and as expected, you did not respond. So you're just a hypocrite telling others to do what you have not done and cannot do.

Feminism forces men to take off their hats in certain buildings (i.e. offices) while women are allowed to get away with wearing theirs in any building. Feminism has been destroying us for many years.

[+]Superboo6661 points 8 years ago [recovered] (4 children) | Copy Link

Never seen that happen anywhere. Source?

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

When I was working at the Queens Borough Public Library from 2004 to 2012. The women were allowed to wear their hats in and out of the building but complained when the men wore theirs in the building.

[–]nforne -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

I get where you're coming from. In workplaces without a strict uniform policy, women can wear pretty much anything they want, within reason, while men are more restricted. The reason, I feel, is that feminism caused a massive stink about women being told what to wear (ie, skirt is too short, too much cleavage showing etc) and no manager will dare say those things lest they are accused of sexism.

Men, however, are still fair game for managers to control, as they can do so without repercussion. My manager told me I was dressing too smart (smarter than him) and asked me to work in t-shirts or polo shirts. He'd never dare tell my female colleagues what to wear and some of them wear very nice clothes.

It's the same old story. Nobody cares when men are treated poorly but everyone loses their shit when the same happens to a woman. Feminism is partly to blame for jumping on the female side of the scales, but it's the human instinct to protect women that makes feminism so successful.

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points0 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I see. I believe this is one thing that is causing gender dysphoria in men. I have seen an increase in men wanting to become women through gender reassignment. I believe that these double standards might be a major root cause.
