These "lifestyle" judgements are bullshit. If you want to maintain a lifestyle, you should be contributing to it in equal measure.

It occurs to me an interesting thought. There's a big push to try to assign monetary value to household work like caring for children, washing dishes and cleaning clothes.

Could this not be considered financial contribution and actually lessen alimony payments?

[–]Mr_MRAnarchist 9 points10 points11 points 8 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Nope. Nobody should consider raising and caring for your own children, or for your own home to be a career.

Their are people who do this for a living, but they are doing it for others. If you want to pay someone to do those things, their are called, maids/ butlers/ cleaning staff/ cooks/ dish washers/ launderers/ etc....

Their are whole industries build around outsourcing these activities because some people can pay others to do them, because their time is more valuable doing their actual career activities and paying others to do the mundane tasks.

The free market has already decided what value to place on these services when you do them for others. What these feminists and idiots want is for the government to recognize that value when you do it for your own family. So by that logic, a single man could claim expenses for cooking his own food and doing his own laundry.... not to mention extra for bathing himself...

You and I hold the same position on the topic, however that doesn't change that some wish to construct financial value to it to further the wage gap myth.

However, I believe should these people succeed, then the SAHM would be considered to be contributing financially to the household and entitled to less alimony due to their percentage of household contributions. After all, after a divorce the man's quality of life is diminished from no longer having these contributions.

After all, after a divorce the man's quality of life is diminished from no longer having these contributions.

I think what will actually happen is that the non custodial parent will be forced to pay the custodial parent a wage for all of that time.

So who would be paying this? Would it be taxable income? Would all SAHM be self employed?

[–]oursland 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Also good questions.

As a contributing member within the marriage, the SAHM would be required to contribute after the marriage. She may be required to pay alimony to maintain quality of life for the ex-husband.

And how would she pay alimony? Would it be in the providing of services like cooking/ cleaning/ etc? What about sex? If all those things are part of the deal, does the government now include intercourse in the equation?

[–]oursland 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And how would she pay alimony?

It would be her problem to come up with alimony.

Would it be in the providing of services like cooking/ cleaning/ etc? What about sex?

All of those things have fair market value.

If all those things are part of the deal, does the government now include intercourse in the equation?

Why not, there are legal brothels in parts of the USA and elsewhere. The market value can be established, no different than considering a man's income for alimony payments.

Why should men be punished by paying alimony based on their income when services they had received in exchange for their time, effort, and money are now no longer extant due to the dissolution of marriage?

[–]FuriousStylesMGTOW 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Absolutely. Ask any feminist how she would feel about amending this law and watch her go straight into trying to double talk her way out of answering the question.

These "lifestyle" judgements are bullshit. If you want to maintain a lifestyle, you should be contributing to it in equal measure.

You watch the Sherlock series? The dumbass suffragette episode was basically like this: "Man promises to marry woman. Man gets to fuck her. Man runs off leaving her penniless". This was an unfair arrangement, hence Age of Consent law and Alimony. The suffragettes said "votes for women, chastity for men".

The lifestyle argument is based on over 100 years of arguments.

Your Honor, I am accustomed to fucking this bitch twice a week. I'll pay alimony, and She'll get sucking. Sound fair?

$12 million in legal fees. Lawyers are always the true winners.

[–]Halafax 10 points11 points12 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's why they fight to keep the system as it is.

[–]aokusman 22 points23 points24 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Are you kidding me. She is worth 30 million and needs alimony?

[–]Splatriarchy 12 points13 points14 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

How is she worth $34 million? Was this money that he already gave her? I would think that should be enough to live on comfortably.

[–]noloco 8 points9 points10 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So call me crazy, but this guy spends 390 days a year out of the country. Why doesn't he liquidate assets, move them off shore and tell Canada and his ex wife to pound sand?

[–]Rethgil 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Obscene. Shows how stupid the whole idea of alimony is in our modern world.

Get rid of it.

[–]Grand_boy 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

180000 for scar removal? Thats clearly fake.

[–]mwobuddy -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Do you wanna know how she got those scars??

[–]Grand_boy 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Chicken pox apparantly.

[–]CommonMisspellingBot 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Hey, Grand_boy, just a quick heads-up:
apparantly is actually spelled apparently. You can remember it by -ent not -ant.
Have a nice day!

Another reason for rich men to avoid women lol

[–]kartu3 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well, that's about 10% of what she was asking for (8-10 million a year), I've expected worse.

[–]matterhorn9 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

'maintaining life style' wow that is an actual consideration?
