I work in a "female-dominated" profession. All I've ever seen is horrible, stupid and evil females promoted to positions of power. As a male, I have yet to ride this fucking mythical glass escalator.

My company recently did the whole gender pay-gap UK government calculations and for us we had no gap at all for pay but a large (30+%) pay-gap for bonuses.

Now we know the calculations are all BS anyway but there is zero discretionary elements to our bonuses, we have a single scheme based entirely on performance against fixed targets that are identical for everyone that can earn bonus.

A few people in the office thought this was confirmation of bias but its simply that the men in the office on average did a better job. We have a very even split near perfect 50/50 (not through design just we hire the people we can) and while a few of the women are part time the bonus calculation is per hour worked so they are not disadvantaged.

I currently work in a very female-dominated profession, and the glass elevator just doesn't exist at more than half of the workplaces. Upper management is always women.
