Just for one year they should decouple gender from Olympic events. When men take the majority of medals, can we just go back to sanity and forget all this nonsense.

There is never anything to be won by boys or men competing athletically against girls or women. If the guy wins he’s an asshole for beating a girl because everyone knows that guys have unfair advantages everywhere and being bigger and stronger is just one of those advantages. If the girl wins then he’s a vanquished bully and girls can do anything boys can, only better. I better not forget my /s tag here.

What I really can’t figure out is why chess is separated by sex. I mean, there’s nothing physical involved there except banging a weird double-faced alarm clock. Do we divide up Scrabble™ tournaments too? Poker maybe?

This is why there should just be an 'open' division and a girls/boys division.

Anyone who is good enough should compete in the open division and the rest are less competitive to the level of the people playing.

This is how it is now in hockey. There are no gender rules in the NHL/AHL/ECHL and there is a women's league.

I dunno. I get it in the spirit of sport. I mean, we live in a world where professional national women's soccer teams can get crushed by a high school boys team. If an exceptional girl can compete with boys, she should be allowed to compete at their level so there's some sport. There's no sport in letting sub-standard male athletes dominate a women's competition (save for making a point)

A lot of sports and competitions are set up this way. There's an open tournament and then there's a women's tournament. The general public perception is that the open tournament is the men's competition because the leaderboards are often exclusively men.

This is in part because the wider statistical trait distribution in men leads to any ranked list to become male heavy in the outliers, and in part because it's more flattering to be #1 in the gender limited competition than to be #87 in the open one.
