Though the man is responsible to remove himself, that does not make it his fault. Similarly, a woman is responsible to remove herself, but it is not her fault. One is responsible for protecting themselves and removing themselves when uncomfortable, however, when they are the victim of a crime it does not become a non-crime because they failed to do so.

She could be being so forceful that the only way for him to remove himself is by physically retaliating, which will almost certainly land him in jail.
