I really, really, really hope that a lot of these movements aren't ACTUALLY perceived as the same by people outside niche groups.

Nazis, White Supremacists, Westboro Baptists actually base their core of beliefs around saying that other people's unchangeable traits don't deserve to exist on the world and should be eradicated or expelled.

BLM and Anti-Fascists are impassioned liberals who think violence and demonstrations are necessary to oppose those movements.

Feminist is a very broad label and a lot of people take it differently, but I'm 1000% men's rights activist and also a feminist, and it's silly for us on this sub to pretend that feminism is an ideology devoted to preventing men's rights. There are many distinct issues that face women that don't face men - just like vice versa - and it's just as shitty for us to ignore them as it is for them to ignore us.

I just think those are several different divisions of hatred and violence that shouldn't be so easily grouped together.

I didn't mean to go so hard into this, but I'm hammered and this got me irrationally annoyed. Im an LGBT, part black man, and I will fight for the rights of every group I'm a part of and the rights of groups I'm not, because that's what decent people do.

I frankly don't think it's the same thing, but I and a lot of other liberals frown upon people who use violence to solve things.

I think things like literal nazism should be opposed by any means necessary, and I have a minor in ethics and have generally opposed violence against beliefs, but that reasoning is only because it tends to allow the far/alt right to claim victimism (ironically).

Alt left is a bullshit term ascribed by its opposites. I believe firmly in free speech (protestors and counterprotestors), logic and reason, men's rights, and women's rights. Separate issues that shouldn't be anything but equal, if you'll allow me to use that turn of phrase.

I used to be of a very similar mindset of what I think the non-racist base of the current alt-right (which exists, though some on the left disagree), but my studies in ethics, my experiences as the identities I hold, and my obligation to humanity and even my country have swung me to the left; however, I don't think this conflicts with some of those core ideals, and I wish this subreddit would acknowledge that so we could move forward
