Women carry their centre of mass in their lower body. Men carry it in their upper body. In order to counter-act the jostling movement of the vehicle, we need a wider base. It's just physics.

It's a form of shaming. Feminists have not provided any evidence that taking up more than your share of space in public transport is:

confined to that particular sitting posture.
something men do more than women.
a significant or growing problem.

Yet simply by generating outrage, they have managed to give the phenomenon a gendered name, to shame men for it, and in some jurisdictions to have laws passed against it.

It's another way of harassing and humiliating men using the law and public pressure. It's pure use of power to beget more power. Men must constantly feel controlled, downcast, and forced to apologise. This makes it more difficult for men to ever protest against discrimination against them or to find a common position.

Feminism is a hate movement. We owe it and the institutions that promote it, including the state, nothing: no tax, no loyalty, no obedience, no deference, no respect.

I'm not advocating we break the law, at least not yet. But in principal, we would be fully justified in doing so.

The real kicker in all this, is that they have not been asked to provide evidence. Their assertions alone were enough to prompt action. Now, that's power.

Men don't need to sit with their legs spread wide apart—that is not the proper refutation of the manspreading complaint.

The proper refutation is to ask how many instances of "manspreading" involved men who refused to close their legs enough to allow someone to sit next to them. Your knees don't need to be touching to make room; having them shoulder-width apart is just fine. But I've never seen an example of a man refusing to make room on a train or bus.

I think the manspreading complaint has more to do with women being too shy and unassertive to request room be made, rather than men being unwilling to make it for them. This is about certain women wanting men to read their minds.
