Replace "teen girls" with any other term that denotes a female and it still works.

[–]SlipperiPete 28 points29 points30 points 9 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

I've never met a single woman who doesn't do more than one of these things.

[–]EightyTimes 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They're out there.

I've been with my girlfriend for 8 months and she hasn't done A SINGLE ONE OF THESE.

I think a lot of it was framing on my part after my previous abusive relationship. I stopped saying "you cool if I go out tonight?" and instead say "I'm hanging with the guys tonight, I'll see you at 11".

That and similar framing/positioning has us both VERY happy with each other.

Double negatives hurt my brain.

You're saying all single women you've met are abusive?

[–]guntermench43 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think in this case they are saying every single as in all women they've met do this, not all single women.

[–]serenwipiti 7 points8 points9 points 9 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

As a 29 year old woman that does not do any of this shit, reading your comment made me feel sad.

Good people are out there and I do not feel that they are in the minority. Shitty people just make themselves heard more often and a lot of times they actively seek out kind, trusting people to use.

I hope in the future you run into better people. ❤️

[–]majortom22 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

That makes me happy. My last girlfriend was great for a few years. Then became really abusive emotionally and physically. I would have gone to jail if I had assaulted her the way she did me.

I'm afraid to be with a woman in a lot of ways after what a few have done to me. Its not just their behavior its that I have no real recourse and she has the power of the state backing her.

Women like you? Its imperative you speak up. We can't do it alone. Its too easy to silence us.

[–]serenwipiti 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm sorry you went through that. :( Having someone you thought loved you treat you like that is heartbreaking.

I hope someday you can trust people again and meet someone who appreciates you and treats you well.

[–]flamethrowup 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Sorry to hear that, man. Get some therapy and then go MGTOW. Fuck an escort if you want, have casual sexual relationships with women you feel like you can trust, but never commit to them, cohabit with them, or marry them. It's just not worth the risk. Just my thoughts.

[+][deleted] -7 points-6 points-5 points 9 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, just keep saying it's "people" and not women.

[–]serenwipiti 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Women are people. Some women do abusive stuff like this. Some men do abusive stuff like this.

There are good people and there are shitty people, regardless of their gender.

No one deserves to be treated like this, man or woman.

Your statement is divisive.

[–]EightyTimes 6 points7 points8 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Bro obviously has more experience with women in relationships than men, so he's biased, but you are right.

I know a few men who do this, and every single relationship I've been in except my current one, they've done this

[–]Zepherite 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

You're right. However, in the context of a society that says: Men, don't rape; Men, don't abuse; Men, no means no; Men, you are privilaged; Men, you get paid more; Men, it's easier for you in the workplace... it's very easy to feel like (I would say justifiably so) everyone thinks women are infallible and women have all the issues. In which case, it seems reasonable to highlight specifically that women too, can be privilaged and can be guilty of wrong doing by virtue of its omission from discussion elsewhere; A focus on women's failings to attempt to balance out the overwhelming focus on men's failings.

If only more people were more gender neutral in their distaste for abuse in the first place, there would be no balance that needed redressing. Unfortunately, women are still not held to the same standard as men in this regard as evidenced by lesser jail times for women and society at large finding abuse from women to men funny rather than abhorrent like they should. Once this is no longer the case, there will be no need to be divisive.

[–]serenwipiti 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Oh, I agree that we should highlight that women are also responsible for abuse. That is the point of the original post.

I am in support of raising public awareness about women committing domestic violence and psychological abuse- which is why I up-voted the post and why I sympathized with the other OP who has only had relationships with abusive women.

I do not think women are infallible. My way of seeing things is gender neutral which is why I am saying there are shitty people out there, regardless of their gender. If more people just took other's behavior as what it actually is, regardless of their genitalia, then addressing the emotional and physical violence would be less wrought with the gender identity baggage that people feel is pushed upon them.

We should stress the importance of respecting all humans, and focus on healing the chains of abuse that go on from generation to generation. Abusive men and women usually come from families of abuse.

We are in a men's rights sub, it is implicit that we are talking about abusive women because that is the topic of the article. I felt no need to re-highlight women.

I do see your point though, it must feel like no one is hearing you out if you felt the need to express that.

[–]Zepherite 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Thanks for the reasoned response. I agree. We ultimately need to aim for an entirely neutral view of abuse: it's wrong, full stop.

I suppose I was preaching to the converted in a sense. It's just so very difficult to stay neutral when confronted with so many decidedly none neutral opinions in every day life.

[–]serenwipiti 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's cool. Remember you're not alone. :)

[–]dicklaurent97 12 points13 points14 points 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I have personally dealt with the "pointing out your flaws" bit from an ex who always dished but could never take. Guys, if someone you care about does something that makes you deeply uncomfortable and they freak out whenever you tell them to stop, it's time to pack up and leave that insecurity. The world is too big to deal with that shit.

[–]LHunterr 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Oh no. I tend to point out flaws on my male friends as some sort of joke and a comeback for them teasing me in the past. They never say anything but i hope they aren't depressed because of me. I can't even imagine how can a person live every day normally when they do this to their friends and loved ones.

[–]dicklaurent97 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I hope it was something harmless like a booger or a fly being down and not a drug dependency that resulted in intoxicated driving and manslaughter. Otherwise I think you might be fine.

[–]LHunterr 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Jesus christ did that happen to you? What the hell. And no its stuff like the way they eat, speed they text etc. I don't always do this mind you, only as a comeback but i don't think they understand.

[–]dicklaurent97 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

No none of that happened to me lol. I just thought of the most harmless and most harmful thing that someone could be embarrassed of. I was talking more about a romantic relationship where it's harder to be more gruff and less tactful and how you deal with who you're talking to. The beautiful things about friends is that if you found the right one, you shouldn't have to worry too much about offending them, especially when you're not trying to.

[–]LHunterr 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I have a history of friends that can be easily offended, and posts like this are just raising my anxiety that i am offending my current friends and slowly destroying our friendship. I shouldn't be so doubtful about myself, thanks for listening to my rant tho!

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

At least it is getting out.

I wonder what leads little girls to hit little boys as a means of flirting.

Little boys don't seem to be inclined to do the same. Very odd.

All women do most of these things. These are the tactics of the 'weaker' sex.
