Hello everybody,
For a long time, I've been interested in modern myths. Things like "Santa is wearing red because of Coca-Cola" or "Spinach is iron-heavy". For a few months, I've been writing a website dedicated to these myths (in french, http://www.briser-le-mythe.fr).
Recently, I've seen more and more Facebook posts with the "1 woman in 6 gets raped", which I understand is a large exageration, the kind that could be considered a myth. So I wanted to write an article on that topic.
Only problem: it seems fucking hard to find relaibale sources contradicting these numbers. They get reported everywhere. I stumbled upon one detailed article on the topic a few days ago, but I apparently didn't save it...
So, could you please help me find reliable sources on the topic, in order to (try to) reestablish the truth on that topic?
Thanks a lot.

The US bureau of Justice statistics is probably the most unbiased source with the largest collection pool from every police department and college in the US.

You can download their latest report at the bottom. Also, when you read the statistics they will say something like 1.1% were victims of some crime, but that 1.1% is out of 1,000. Not the typical "out of 100" . I hope this helps
