Definitely. Male bisexuality is what's frowned at. If a female experiments, she's free and liberated. If a male experiments, he's "gross" and "insecure," and can never donate blood again. Lesbian porn is loved by many (not by me, personally), but porn between men is viewed as being the grossest thing ever. For these reasons and many others, yes. Gay/bi men have it way harder than straight men, in my opinion.

BUT, there are separate issues relating to being gay that make things worse, for which there doesn't appear to be a straight counterpart. For example, in the USA, there is not much protection against discriminatory employment or housing practices, and a lot of people clearly want to discriminate (we know because they say so). And in some places in the world, being gay can get you dead (by the state), which doesn't seem to happen to lesbians as often, if at all.

It's hard to know because a lot of the statistics we have don't include sexuality as a category or there is not enough research. Eg how are gay/bi men treated in the justice system?

But seriously, folks, obviously they have it harder. I've never seen a lowbrow "comedian" try to insult a woman by calling her mouth a cock holster. Never heard of a straight man being beaten to death for being straight, either -- though it wouldn't surprise me if that day were fast approaching.

I jump back and forth on this. Looking only at the situation in the USA and not some other countries.

Gay men did something very interesting. They managed to get a lot of sympathy from large swaths of the public. They are the most useless from a reproductive standpoint. And male disposability is thought to be grounded in the fact that it takes fewer men to repopulate. Although current trends are slowly turning against straight acting and white gay men, they did manage to put themselves in a position where they could actually say "this is wrong, you can't treat me this way" and have a lot of contemporary society agree with them.

This might bode well in trying to get men's issues in the public spotlight. Some might call this public sympathy and compassion a privilege straight men are not allowed.

I heard a gay guy try to explain some privileges straight men have, not to make them feel bad, he is not a fan of the "SJWs" (hes not a fan of the right either), but just to try to "get them to understand what not being "normal" is like. One of them being the ability to hold their partner's hand in public and not feel awkward about it.

It got me thinking. This isn't a privilege straight men have. Because they can't do that either. They can certainly have public displays of affection with their female partners, but one thing this gay man probably never considered is how straight men aren't allowed to be affectionate with each other. And truthfully, I believe the vast majority of straight men would be more physically intimate in non sexual ways with their same sex friends if society didn't frown on it. And I do genuinely believe this mostly socializing, men in other countries, including very homophobic ones, hold hands and even sleep in the same bed. Western men did this quite routinely until about ww2. As boys we are more intimate and we don't even really think about it.

So, no. That isn't a privilege straight men have that gay men don't. Men are not allowed to be close friends in public. It doesn't matter what your sexuality is. Gay and bisexual men need to see their problems as not the result of patriarchy, but of androphobia. Girlfriends come and go, but a good bond of brotherhood is more lasting. We live in an androphobic society. This affects men of all sexualities.

Maybe they do have it worse in other types of situations, but I think we need to frame this in terms of androphobia, and see how this affects all men. We are men first, always. Society will always see you as a man first, and as gay, white, bi, black, or whatever afterwards.

In many respects yes.

Until the point that begins where a heterosexual male has to confront a soon-to-be ex wife in a bigoted matrimonial court that is openly hostile to his concerns, or really, to men in general.

Then the heterosexual male gets royally screwed in ways that a gay male never would have to experience.

In many respects, not being in a circumstance to invite a far more entitled female into your personal life can be an advantage.

In reality, both heterosexual men and gay men get royally screwed by the matriarchal system.

But going through a divorce with where a female is involved really takes the cake in many respects.

Yes. And they are often shocked when they are cleaned out in family court or they lose custody of their kids.

It largely depends on one's environment, values, goals, appearance, etc. Being gay in Saudi Arabia — bad, being straight in Europe/USA — might be bad too. If you gay in the US/Europe and you fit in LGBT community, you're fine, but if you dare to not agree on something with them — you're screwed.
