The worst part is that women themselves believe this. They never question how romantic notions are completely female-directed ("A man doing something for a woman is always a good thing!") and that their attraction to a man's "personality" is more about his potential to make money. Something that really shows this is female romantic movies/books. The male love interest must always have lots of money AND be a worshiping slave to her (as Pixar demonstrated with a 12 year old girl dream boyfriend: "I would die for you Riley."), whereas you don't find those qualities in male movies with female love interests.
Oh yes. Endless Dream Boyfriends stacked up high so that the female protagonist could climb them like a ladder to reach her goal. You can imagine what the reaction would be if the genders were reversed.
