Why are men expected to make spaces for women in industry (especially film and tv)? Why can't successful women create their own spaces?

It's the subtle nod towards men's implied societal role as the "Responsible Party".

In any given situation you'll find this; men are ultimately expected to bear the responsibility. This, in actuality, is the root of "The Patriarchy", btw; this level of responsibility which is often foisted on to men goes hand in hand with the consequence, which as viewed from the outside looks like "privilege".

Modern feminism aims to separate the consequence from responsibility; ie: men still get left holding the bag, but someone else gets the "privilege" ( ie: women in this case ). This is no different than the situation you highlighted; men are ultimately responsible for including women based solely on gender.

Men typically are responsible for their own success. Women instinctively use men to help them achieve success. Ironically feminism is making more and more men afraid to help women in the workplace and get hauled into HR for sexual harassment, which is making women fail miserably on their own.

I work in a woman centered job and believe me, no-one wants to make space for me as a male. Popular belief is that it is not a job for a male and become very resentful when I do the job as good as, if not better, than the women. Still have the bias that I don't deserve to have my job after more than 20 years in the industry.

This reminds me of a story that my wife went through. In her second year of her RN (registered nurse) she was paired with 3 other students under a certified RN. Throughout the day she would ask her 4 students questions and their opinions about various medical circumstances both individually and in a group setting. My wife studies harder then anyone I have ever met easily 8-10 hours a day.

One day the certified RN asked the group a question and my wife answered it within half a heartbeat. Later that day one of her slack peers corned and she told my wife "You need to stop taking all of my opportunities."

People often compare their worst to someones best. Forgetting about all the hard work behind the other individual.

Because it has been proven time and again that women are just not as good as men are at the things that men excel at. Women are the Taiwan of society... they will take something that is already working and successful, and create an inferior knock off of it and try to sell it as original/ and or just as good.

Funny thing because it didn't notice it before and it was always there. There was that job opportunity at the department of forensic evidence. A Lot of applicant gave resume so eventually they took 20 woman and 2 men. I guess they needed to increase the women in the field.

Simply put, the focus of this is equality of outcome, rather than equality of opportunity. Rather than level the playing field so that everyone, regardless of gender has an equal opportunity to succeed, concentrating on the numbers of [engineers, computer scientists, CEOs, whatever] rather than the potential number of qualified candidates for the job allows the perception of discrimination to be inflated, and thus inflating the need for corrective action.

So, rather than compare the number of male and female software engineers, take a few steps back. Check the relative math scores of male and female high school students and compare it to the number of applicants for undergraduate computer science programs. If women are scoring comparatively well in math, but not applying for CS programs, you can narrow it down to choices, and figure out the percentage fewer candidates for the software engineering positions. That allows you to control for equality of opportunity (which should be equal, and can more easily be controlled), rather than equality of outcome (which cannot be controlled without both removing male and female individual choice -- you'd have to force women to become programmers).
