The women are wonderful effect is the phenomenon found in psychological and sociological research which suggests that people associate more positive attributes with the general social category of women compared to men.

The Muskegon County Prosecutor's Office did not offer any deal in exchange for Artman's plea, though Muskegon Circuit Judge Timothy Hicks agreed to not sentence Artman to prison, said Matt Roberts, the prosecutor's chief trial attorney.

That's a PP right there.

[–]hijack619 44 points45 points46 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Not only that, but she could have been sentenced to 6 years, but instead only got one.

[–]thegeeseisleese 33 points34 points35 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She was also on probation from a prior sentence at the time of the arrest

[–]Lose__Not__Loose 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

In jail instead of in prison.

[–]ImOP_need_nerf 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

How did they find out she lied? I can see being lenient if she just decided to come clean. On the other hand if they proved she was lying despite her claims, I would hope she gets the full amount.

[–]WeWillRiseAgainst 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Not that it matters much, but jail is worse than prison some times.

[–]40gallonbreeder 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm not sure why you're being down voted, you're right. You generally have more freedoms in prison than jail since prisons are for more long term offenders and guards trying to treat priaoners as subhuman will get you shanked.

In my county jail there are no cigarettes and you can't smoke, you can't work out, the list of things your allowed to own is very small. The state pen sells cigarettes, has a gym, and in general guards treat you like a person, for their own safety admittedly, but still.

Wtf. Back when I was dealing with a pill addiction I was caught with 15 Xanax and faced more time in prison than she would have if she received the maximum sentence. I was also fined $2,000 more than her. If they had believed her, the men in question would have certainly received life or damn close to it. But instead, this HABITUAL offender gets off with one year in county jail (not prison) with time served and a lesser fine than some non-violent drug user in possession of less than 20 pills. This isn't a case of pussy pass denied, this is a prime example of pussy pass in use.

[–]_NetWorK_ 26 points27 points28 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Seriously false accusations should carry the same sentence as the crime they are claiming to happen + the sentence for providing a false statement.

This isn't a case of well people won't come forward... This is a case of ysomeone deliberetly trying to ruin someone else life and having next to zero consequences... Wtf society.

[–]smookykins -3 points-2 points-1 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

They should also carry the stipulation that the accused gets to rape them.

[–]Lose__Not__Loose 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I think that that would fit under cruel and unusual punishment. I'm all for justice but I'm against punishment plus abuse.

How was that WD. Fuckin week in right now after being on for two months 2mg day. Fuck me

The withdrawal was a nightmare, actually that's an understatement. It was the worst imaginable ordeal I ever went through. At the time of my arrest I was popping up to 8 Xanibars a day (the 2mg white sticks) and sometimes mixing it with Methadone. It's honestly a miracle it didn't kill me because people have died from far less than what I was on, I had just been using for so long that my tolerance level was so high. I could barely even feel the effect of two Xanibars, and that's enough to knock the average person out cold all day.

Anyway, I got busted with 15 pills and just barely a dime of bud. I had been at a friends house when I dosed up and we had a little altercation and I had to leave when I absolutely shouldn't have been behind a wheel. I was driving 40mph on the highway, swerving like an idiot and I got pulled over. The cop had reasonable cause to search, found my stash and booked me. So I was charged with the pills, the bud, possession and use while operating a motor vehicle, and the most fucked up part: they wanted to charge me with intent to distribute despite the pills being in one single bottle and absolutely no indication or reason to believe I intended to sell them. I'm glad I got caught because it was the kick in the ass I needed to get clean which I have been now since June of 2015, but it was a shit ton of work and it was painful.

Don't let the withdrawals get the better of you and make you cave in and use, because it's just gonna prolong the process. I know it's easier said than done but you gotta find the willpower to refuse the intense urges your mind and body are both gonna throw at you. You're likely gonna feel fidgety, dizzy, disoriented, shaky, you might have hot sweats and feel sick, but in the next couple days the symptoms will become less and less and by the third week mark you should be over the physical aspects of it all, at least the worst of it, and from then on it will mostly just be mental (which can convince you you're in physical pain when you're really not). Plus, you were only on 2mg a day so your experience is definitely gonna suck, but imagine how much worse it could be! Just stay strong man, if I can do it I promise you that you can too. I was a hopeless pill junkie but I beat it.

You hate people like me? Do you know why I got addicted to pills? Since the age of 17 I suffered from crippling anxiety and manic depression. At my worst I was having 2-3 serious panic attacks a week, and some were so bad I'd black out. I was put on a regiment of anti-depressants and Xanax. So at 17 years old I was already taking 3 1mg Xanax a day as needed. My doctor was also known as a pill pusher, I was able to get Adderall and Vicodin off of him just by telling him I thought I had ADD and a stiff neck. If you take benzos you know that you build up a tolerance to it, and such was the case for me, and my doctor gladly obliged. I did not start out abusing my medication, that came years later, and not because I wanted to get a high.

When I reached the age where I could no longer stay on my parents insurance, I was forced to stop taking my anti-depressants because without coverage they were unreasonably expensive. I could still get my Xanax though, because even without insurance it's cheap enough to pay for out of pocket. I fell into the deepest depression I had ever had in my life, became suicidal, and went to my doctor to see what could be done. His advice? "If you're feeling especially down, just take an extra Xanax to ease your nerves. I'll increase the dosage, just don't overdue it". I was now self medicating and at 22 became physically addicted. Then when I'm 24 my doc abruptly quit practicing medicine. I heard through the grapevine he was being investigated for the amount of addictive medication he was pushing. So I find a new doc, give him my medical records and he takes one look at what I was on and just shook his head and was like "you are on way too high of a dosage of Xanax, and I wanna get you off of it. It's too addictive." He gave me one prescription to ween off the drug and that was that. I go through another dark time and unfortunately in my weakened state I was so desperate to feel normal, not even good, just normal, so I started self medicating with opiates and that's when I fell into the drug scene. I'd buy Xanax when my dealer had some and took opiates when they didn't.

Don't blame me or people like me for your predicament. I know you're referring to those stupid kids who steal grannies pills and buys them on the street without needing them but that wasn't me. If you wanna blame someone for my issue blame the broken healthcare system, the insurance companies, and the doctors that don't give two shits about their patients well being. I didn't seek out drugs, I was introduced to them by someone I thought I could trust. I became an addict at my doctor's recommendation.

TL;DR: Dude get's addicted to medication that he needed to function. Then needs them to not suffer from withdrawal to function. Gets punished by BS prosecution loophole to fill some sort of quota and not for the reason you were pulled over. (Driving in an unsafe manner and possession of a banned substance)

Did i get that right?

Please turn off your ad blocker

Ok, sure I'll give it a chance.

Page load takes 10x as long and greeted by a full screen pop-up ad video.

Well fuck that. Ad block for you.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Whenever a site tells me to turn off my ad blocker that's usually the last time I ever visit that site.

I don't use ad-blockers to block ads, I use it to block annoying auto-playing video ads, other ads with sound, scummy ads that ask you for personal info and malware. Since there is no other way of avoiding these annoying as shit scumbag ads, I will never disable my ad blocker. No white list, no way. Fuck you.

"yeah yeah, we're sorry about this, but like our facebook and follow us on twitter"

like... if you know people don't like it.. why put it in... are people really that stupid?

Mlive isn't for a small town, it's for the whole state, and it's not a paper; it's online only lmao.

My brother was featured on there over being robbed on the job, one of my friends was on there when a tree fell on her car, etc.

Yeah, what's wrong with quickly toggling ad blocker off for one website? They have bills to pay too.

Looking at her Facebook, when she's a little put together, she's pretty. Looks a little like Emily Blunt.

Which would never have been denied if she hadn't admitted it.

Pass.

And she didn't get a custodial sentence.

Pass.

And she wasn't horrifically torture-raped for punishment.

Pass.

I vote for female castration on this one.

[–]chronoic 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Feminst and white knights would say

"Just because she lie about being rape, doesnt mean she wasnt rape. The victim of rape should always be right even if its false rape"
