Let's remember how many amazing women there are in the world, and how they are concerned about human rights for everyone. For every raving fem-loony on Tumblr, Twitter and FB; there are 500 loving, sane, rational and caring women.

I wish that were the ratio.

[–]SworntotheDeath 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I wish that were true, but at least in the US (and the Islamic/Jewish world) the majority of both men and women, I am sure, want male circumcision to remain legal and socially acceptable.

I love being circumcised, and I am happy my mother made that decision. It is not "mutilation" to remove excess skin when it is done for hygienic reasons. Your penis does not perpetually hurt after circumcision, and it just looks so much more visually appealing. Let's stop promoting this fallacy that circumcision is "male genital mutilation" when it is anything but.

excess skin

Holy shit.

[–]Thinkmoreaboutit 18 points19 points20 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is what always bothers me. Foreskin IS THE PENIS. It's just the specific, highly specialized part of it.

[–]MRA-automatron-2kb 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I've heard this before... good grief, don't they understand about the need for that excess skin for the expansion-erection ?

[–]Thinkmoreaboutit 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They have no idea of anatomy or function of the male genitals. They think it's just a ram rod to deposit sperm.

[–]Thinkmoreaboutit 17 points18 points19 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If it's done without consent and for non-therapeutic reasons, it's definitely mutilation.

Cool, you like being cut, don't carve sexual preferences into children though ;)

I am happy my mother made that decision

I think these men have Stockholm Syndrome.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Of course they do. Their arguments are often utterly ridiculous.

"Well I would never want to do it when I could remember it happening or remember how it feels! So I'm glad it was done when I was a baby so I couldn't remember!"

Like what. That's an actual argument people use when you try to argue in favor of forcing a preference on a baby. It's absurd. If you in your sound mind wouldn't do it... what the fuck makes you think it's a good idea to do it to a baby? ridiculous.

[–]steelballsafury 8 points9 points10 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

My real question is, based off your opinion, would your circumsize your baby? Given that they don't get to consent in the matter

[–]Machnow 7 points8 points9 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

you're so friggin far off the mark, you have no idea what you're talking about, nor do you understand in even a small way why this is an issue.

fyi...it's why no one responded to your comment.

you're an idiot.

[–]Ricwulf 9 points10 points11 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It is not "mutilation" to remove excess skin when it is done for hygienic reasons.

So what, you think every single male is born with a defect like that?

Further, if it is that needed for "hygienic reasons" then how do the rest of the first world, like England, Europe, Asia, Australia, England, New Zealand etc survive, considering that it is in the extreme minority to do such a procedure in those regions?

Your argument is shit. It's a bullshit cosmetic surgery that has nothing based in logical reason.

[–]tenelka3001 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

That is great that you enjoy your circumsized penis but a healthier decision would have been for your mother to wait and allow you to decide what you wanted when you were old enough.

Since you grew up without your foreskin and I'm presuming you've had no complications from it it's reasonable for you to not understand why you'd ever care to have your foreskin but based off of your reasoning I'm not getting the impression that you have read or understand the purpose of the foreskin so I'd encourage you to look into that.

I'm currently 23 weeks pregnant with a boy and both the father and I agree that circumcision is a choice he should make because body autonomy and consent are a basic right that most people in our society are denied to an extent. It is important to me that us as his parents that he have the right to decide.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It is not "mutilation"

"Mutilation; the infliction of serious damage on something."

It is, in fact, mutilation.

remove excess skin

It is not excess skin, it is part of the normal human penis. It helps protect the penis, keeps it from drying out which prevents the glands from hardening, it allows for greater motion during sex, provides natural lubrication during sex like the vagina does, it has 20k+ nerve endings...

It is no more "excess skin" than our eyelids are. Both of which serve similar purposes to some extent. At least as far as protection and keeping things from drying out. I'm sure our bodies would eventually adapt to not having eyelids, but that does not mean we should remove them. But if we did so for long enough, people like you would act like it's perfectly fine. That's what normalization does.

hygienic reasons

False. The foreskin, at birth, is fused to the head of the penis. Which protects the penis from infection. Where infections occcur, is when people pull the foreskin back, which then tears it from the head of the penis and creates wounds that then get infected. THen people equate this infection with having foreskin, and not improper care of a child.

Girls get infected if you improperly clean their vaginas as well, yet we do not mutilate their genitals in the lie that it will help. [though in cultures where it is normal to have FGM that is one justification they use for it].

Also, bathes and showers. Tada. Hygiene is yours without the need to mutilate your genitals.

Your penis does not perpetually hurt after circumcision

Tell that to someone who had too much foreskin removed, so that whenever he gets an erection it hurts. Tell that to someone with skin bridges on their penis. Or any of the multitude of potential, unnecessary, risks involved with genital mutilation.

looks so much more visually appealing

Are you gay? If not, where are you basing this from? Most women in the world have no problem going to bed with most men in the world who are intact.

I'm gay, and I much, much, much prefer uncut. Most when you pull back the head of the penis will look the same as a cut penis does anyway. Just without being dried out, which is really disgusting. It makes me sad to see a penis that's all dried out. That is not natural, that's not how the penis is supposed to be. A nice shiny head of an natural penis is a beautiful sight.

It is simply a fact that it is genital mutilation. Stop promoting the fallacy it is something else, just because you feel "fine" with it. You can be "fine with it" and still acknowledge it's genital mutilation. Unless you're incapable of being objective.

I'm on the same boat as you. Circumsized as a baby, and really happy about it.

Edit. Oh /r/MensRights , loves to bash on feminism but you're just the same. A bastion of "freedom" and letting your voice be heard, but only if you agree with them. Like feminists and black lives matter members, you have to shame and insult anyone who belongs to the group you are fighting for, but disagrees with you.

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points10 points 9 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

thats why its hilarious seeing as the jews invented it

[–]MRA-automatron-2kb 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I think this religious circumcision is why they are so angry and always fighting.

Their fathers do it to their sons to keep them angry and fighting.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

the dwindling IQ doesn't help :)

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

One way is the way it should be, the other isn't. If you chose it yourself, then I'd understand you being "really happy about it", but you didn't. In any case, you being happy about doesn't help those who aren't. Hell, there are guys who chose to get circumcised as adults who've regretted it because it's not the same.

If circumcision was restricted to grown men, then great. I wouldn't try to stop anyone, although I'd think they were weird. It's not restricted to grown men, though, and that's the problem.

[–]Thinkmoreaboutit 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Circumcising babies is literally against MensRights.

[–]MRA-automatron-2kb 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I agree, we have to protect all males... from day 1 and up.

[–]Notyobabydaddy 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

well.. i have a right to my opinion, do i not? doesn't THAT fall under mens rights too?

[–]Thinkmoreaboutit 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Of course, but if it's for forcibly circumcision children, it's against Mens Rights and it's a stupid "opinion."

[–]Notyobabydaddy 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Surely the opinion of someone who has actually been through what you're arguing counts more than that of someone who hasn't

[–]Thinkmoreaboutit 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I was circumcised without my consent. I've seen the damage it does.

I'm not sure what you're getting at.

[–]Notyobabydaddy -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

What I'm getting at is that I'm glad i was circumsized at birth. I haven't seen any damages. And there's no reason for people getting angry at me for that.

[–]Thinkmoreaboutit 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Cool if you're okay with it. Don't force it on babies.

[–]FallOnYourKeys 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Simpleton.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Have a better argument and people wouldn't care about your stupid opinion.

There is no argument for forcibly removing healthy tissue from infants for cosmetic reasons, or religious reasons. health reasons are bullshit, and the above are absurd.

Plenty of women in 3rd worlds are perfectly happy with it. Do you support FGM as well?

They're both optional, voluntary genital modifications done to an individual who did not consent to them.

Both FGM and MGM violate the autonomy of another's body. While the procedures and effects might vary between the two, the issue of consent and permanent state of the modification is the same.

[–]Thinkmoreaboutit 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They're non-necessary genital modifications done to an individual who did not consent to them.*

Is how I'd phrase it. I definitely agree.
