Now, tell us again how the world would be a kinder, less violent place if run by women...

[–]Vance87 6 points7 points8 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It would be if shitlord men were trained not to provoke them!

You forgot the "/s"

inb4 the "but that's the 'you deserve to be raped' street priest guy, he had it coming".

No, that's not how it works. His opinion might differ from yours, it might be disgusting, condescending and completely ridiculous, but the First Amendment guarantees the same rights of free speech or assembly in public places as it does to you.

It might be garbage, but he's entitled to it, just as you're entitled to your opinion on his thoughts.

[–]freyzha 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Has it ever been confirmed beyond a reasonable doubt that Brother Dean is actually serious about any of the stunts he pulls? I guess if it was just for kicks, he's extremely dedicated, but not out of the realm of possibility that it's not an act.

[–]CynixCS 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I have no idea and frankly, I don't even think it matters. As long as his "performances" don't explicitly call for the committance of crimes or are crimes in and of themselves (e.g. defamation of character), he's free to spill as much bullshit as he wants to.

[–]johndeer89 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I've always wondered if the first amendment only applies to the government not infringing on the freedom of speech. For instance, should the government protect the right of a group to assemble peacefully when other citizens are trying to stop it from happening ( Milo vs BLM).

[–]CynixCS 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's about public spaces. A restaurant owner, event organiser or what ever can still throw you out of his restaurant/location at their own discretion.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

for the most part, the first amendment does only apply to government not infringing on freedom of speech. there are some minor exceptions where, for example, corporate towns are prohibited from infringing free speech, but that's very rare.

when for example, BLM shows up and crashes Milo's talk, they can't be charged with any sort of free speech violation, but they certainly can be charged with trespass/assault/etc.

[–]rudelyinterrupts 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Freedom of speech protects you from the government which is supposed to be the overall authority. If the government can't retaliate due to your opinion it follows that an individual should also abide by that rule.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

this is a highly litigated area of law with tons of cases that have widely explored and rejected what you're advocating. find a SCOTUS primer on free speech cases and read it (usually 200+ pages of case summaries).

[–]Lethn 20 points21 points22 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This just shows you how deranged these people are we are dealing with right now, when a religious preacher who I have nothing in common with understands just as much as I do how important freedom of speech is.

The worst part is, the scumbag who attacked him only gives fuel to any anti-LGBT rhetoric. These idiots who run around assaulting people and harassing them do not represent the people they claim to in the slightest.

What a bunch of self-righteous assholes, I can't believe violent people like this are even allowed into universities or any other positions when there are far more hardworking and genuinely deserving people who need it.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If you're not familiar with Brother Dean and the kinds of characters he trolls, his discussion with a slutwalker and her boyfriend is an interesting one to start with. His encounter with comic fans and cosplayers is a funny one too.

[–]AlexReynard 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Am sickened to hear about the incident, but gee, the source seems just a wee bit biased.

[–]Aaod 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

Jesus christ whoever wrote this did a terrible job, quit spewing rhetoric and state facts.

[–]cymrich 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

seriously... the author is horrible and quite out of touch:

While on stage he was assaulted by these Social Justice Warriors who called him a “dangerous faggot”.

um... that's talking about Milo of course... who's tour name is "The Dangerous Faggot Tour!".

does anyone seriously think he gives a damn if someone calls him what he calls himself?

the idiots that rushed the stage did plenty wrong to actually speak about so why crate an issue that doesn't exist instead of picking one that does.

[–]cassalata[S] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Higher education is responsible for the current attack on our rights to free speech!

[–]Clockw0rk 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

That's a stupid thing to say.

If anything, it's a fucking lack of intelligence that's on display here.

Blame her university, heck, blame American universities... but to even imply that higher education is the bogeyman is goddamn retarded.

[–]Lethn 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Look I respect education that's done properly, but you wouldn't be saying that if you saw the shit that's been recorded in these types of classes. They're borderline cultists that make this preacher look like an Athiest in comparison, she will have definitely been taught that sort of behaviour towards other people is okay.

Teenagers and Young adults like her are actively encouraged to disrupt the events of political opponents and attack them if they can get away with it. If you haven't been to Universities recently, these are not the places of learning you once knew when you were younger.

[–]Clockw0rk 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Dude, I'm currently enrolled in university. Your assumptions make you look real dumb.

There's a handful of social justice types, but they're strictly internet bullies. Found a few in the local social networks, but there's been zero indication of real world activity. A few neon hairs that look the sort, but not a demonstration or protest or shitty posters.

Mind you, this is wilderness country, not latte land; so there's a sizable republican voter demographic on campus. It's also got a very large science and engineering bias, and a relatively tiny social science department.

So yeah, no. "Higher Education" is not the problem. You're burning the house down over a bee's nest.

[–]Lethn 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

Well my bad on assuming you haven't been recently, that's what normally happens, it's people in their 30's or higher that make those comments that haven't been to their universities in years, but in your case this only proves the point. The only places that are okay are the ones which don't have a large contingent of SJWs.

If you were going to one of these Universities that did have these issues, you wouldn't be saying that. If your University doesn't have these problems, then great, you're extremely lucky, but what I don't appreciate is people trying to downplay these types of problems just because they're unaffected by it.

I went to a shit school and by shit I mean they had to bring riot police one time because a bunch of them were trying to attack one guy. Anyone who hears me talk about this kind of thing always assumes I'm exaggerating or try to downplay it because they haven't even been there for a day or two, however you ask anyone that's actually been to the school I've been or a similar school they'll know exactly what I'm talking about.

It's the exact same type of deal here, just because you're lucky enough it's not happening in your area doesn't mean it's not a widespread problem.

[–]Clockw0rk 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I'm not saying it's not a widespread problem, I'm saying that it's mostly a western entitled dickhead problem.

Higher education is not the issue. Some schools are worse than others, but it's certainly not limited to schools. It doesn't start and stop there. This is a people problem. You're lumping science and math with gender studies.

Like I said before: You're burning the house down over a bee's nest.

Deal with the pests, not the whole damn building.

[–]Lethn 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The problem here is they are in fact infesting science and maths, if they stuck to their own courses or even better were self-funded and private, I would not give a fuck. If you look at what's happening to biology courses for example these morons are even trying to mess with that because it doesn't fit their social construct narrative.

It is a people problem and it's people that are using universities and schools to spread this fucked up ideology. The administrations of these places are enabling this behaviour and the idea that they can continue to not only support these morons but receive government funding for it is ridiculous.

[–]Old_butclever1989 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

First time poster here! I just wish these kinds of articles didn't demean liberals so much. I mean my favorite president is FDR and he did a lot to help the working man! I have no love for these crazy feminists or their female supremacy movement, but I do believe that government can and does in ways play a positive role in people's lives. Safety regulations, the clean air and water acts, aid for college tuition (wish there were more male specific grants and scholarships), and so on and so forth. I don't like being demeaned and insulted for holding many liberal values. Granted I don't like my money being used in the aid of mothers for free housing while fathers who can't pay child support go to jail. I just want a more fair system that gives men a chance without being suspicious of them. Men built this world and a vast majority of the good things in it. I don't mind taxes so long as they are used to help people equally and not to fill the pocket books of women who game our system while complaining about it. I am not a feminazi nor will I ever subscribe to their tainted and disgusting ideology. All I ask is that is it so wrong to like support for unions and government programs that can support men through reforms and action?

[–]redditorriot 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Liberalism / Progressivism / Leftism / however you want to label it is poisoning itself by not standing up to the totalitarian, victimhood psychopathy and deranged ideology in its midst.

There are larger and larger numbers of liberals and lefties fighting back against this cancer in our own home, do join us.

[–]cymrich 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

fellow left leaner here... sometimes I feel the same but unfortunately it is a fact that these nutjobs are coming from our side of the fence... not to say conservatives don't have their own nutjobs... we all know they do... their nutjobs simply don't directly oppose what we are trying to accomplish so we never deal with them. anyway... it used to bother me more but now I just ignore it... I'm nothing like them so I know when people slam "liberals" for this type of stuff they aren't talking about me. it's like a conservative getting pissed because someone slammed the tea party.

[–]user1492 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

FDR was the closest this country has gotten to a dictatorship. He was not a great president.

[–]levelate 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

these people are not liberals.

be the change.

[–]cymrich -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

true... by definition they certainly aren't... regardless of what they claim.

[–]omegaphallic 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What she did is wrong. Don't mean I don't think the guy isn't obnoxious asshole, but you can't hit him for saying things you don't like, no matter how tempting.

[–]Rethgil 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Was this street theatre done in order to symbolise feminist behaviour in the face of freedom? Violent thuggery IS feminism. Genius if it was..

[–]mariox19 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I can't quite tell from the video, but it seems like she came up and hit him from behind, or near enough hit him from behind. How on earth does hitting someone in the head, from behind, with a baseball bat constitute "aggravated assault" and not attempted murder?

[–]Darth_Sin 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The "fairer" sex.

[–]5th_Law_of_Robotics 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

We'll see more and more of this as the generation that was raised to believe only their feelings matter and that no one has a right to offend you starts to reach adulthood.

[–]rg57 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And most ATHEISTS reacted with glee.

That's one thing that really disgusts me about what happened to atheism since "+". It used to be about philosophy and science and reason, even compassion. Now it's just about how we can beat and humiliate the stupid religious people. And cishetwhitemen.

[–]andejoh 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not surprised feminists would resort to violence to silence.

[–]redditorriot 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Fuck that woman.

Fox News type writing, meh.

[–]EgoandDesire -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not the first time this has happened. In 2013 a female cop shot and killed a homeless man for calling her a bitch. Womens feelings are incredibly fragile and for some reason they think its ok to lash out because of it. It's insane.

[–]orangorilla -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

<joke>

Well, "tries to kill" is taking it a bit far, she was a woman after all, couldn't possibly have really cracked a skull.
