The State Commission of Human Rights investigates the case of a 11 year-old boy who died after being beaten by his female classmates outside the Felipe Tzintzun primary school, located in the village of Opopeo, in the municipality of Salvador Escalante, Michoacán.

According to local media reports, the attack occurred Tuesday afternoon when Miguel Ángel returned to school to pick up his backpack and was intercepted by the girls, who beat him in the chest and back.

Following the attack, Miguel Ángel was helped by the school principal who took him to a private doctor, but the doctor suggested that the child be taken to the Civil Hospital of Patzcuaro, where he died hours later.

The child's family doesn't know the cause of the attack and stresses that the little Miguel Ángel never said or showed signs of suffering some form of bullying.

The staff of the State Commission of Human Rights will have to determine whether it was a case of bullying and if there was a failure by educational authorities to address it.
