Maybe I overlooked it, but did it say anywhere how old the dad was at conception? If he were 15/16/17 as well would they still charge him for raping a minor?

I'd consider statute of limitations, the mother's thoughts and willingness for a DA to prosecute. To me it would seem that it would be in everyone's best interest for the kid just to know his biological father. I don't think the father should pay any back child support or face any legal consequences though. The mother could have always aborted and chose to carry to full term.
