The draft is slavery pure and simple, it's the government claiming ownership of your person, your very life.

Honestly if a government can't muster up enough people to willingly agree to kill in it's name and defend it from hostile forces, why should it deserve such protection in the first place? There's always going to be people who want to be military, let them, but for the love of FSM don't force people into war.

That's (in my opinion) the right answer. No one should be drafted because it's illegal and unconstitutional, but if men must register then women should too.

The draft only makes sense as a last resort, as in, there is some catastrophic war where the U.S. has been invaded and it is all or nothing.

That being said, war itself should be seen only as a last resort, and it is obvious that the U.S. does not abide by this principle.

Same. I don't think people should be socially obligated to possibly die or lose limbs or PTSD. Especially since the US isn't doing so well on taking care of its boys afterwards. My dad came back from Afghanistan and I could barely recognize him both physically or emotionally. (He willingly joined as opposed to draft, because good ol' Southern boy.) He never got counseling, just about six years for regular daily life to mold him back to middle class average dude. He told me he was ready to pull a knife on a five year old because kid pointed a toy gun at him and said bang bang. Not cool. I'm glad he seems OK now, but that isn't acceptable to obligate the average man (or woman) to live through that kind of life.

I haven't thought much about the morality of the draft. An all volunteer force tends to prey on the lower income groups - sort of how a lottery does. Just a thought experiment here, but what if we did away with the voluntary force, and made it draft only? This way we, as a society, might be less inclined to go to war if we knew that our sons and daughters wouldn't be insulated from war if they simply didn't volunteer.

Sure, this won't work because we do need career soldiers.

Sounds like your wife is a libertarian, or at least holds some of those values. What a high quality catch. It's also nice to hear from happily married couples in MRA groups, as an example that unlike feminism - this isn't about demonizing women, like they do men.

One reason why I'm starting to get a little bothered at the MGTOW group, it's one thing to warn men of the dangers of marriage in western society - but some of their claims of the opposite gender tow the line into extreme dogmatic generalizations.

I think that's how most people would feel, I'm against the whole idea of the draft, but yes, if you're going to do it, women shouldn't have the special privilege of getting out of it just because they have a vagina.

If you want equality, do it properly, this kind of thing though is just proof that feminists don't give a shit about that and just want to keep all the benefits of society for themselves.
