How dare they give all those speaking roles to men in Aladdin. They should be ashamed of themselves offering all those words to men in a film where the princess is not the central. They should have just cast off the shackles of gender normality and called the movie Jasmine. /s

The paper unpacks the affects, economies and surfaces of “carbon fibre masculinity” and discusses Pistorius’ use of carbon fibre, homosociality and misogyny as forms of protest masculinity through which he unconsciously attempted to recuperate his gendered identity from emasculating discourses of disability.

LOL yep gotta love feminism. Films from 25-30 years ago are "Modern". There are some really solid arguments that 30 years ago there where some issues with women's portrayals in movies.

If you look at the two actually modern films, Frozen and Brave the gender dialog is "close to equal" and "off kilter in favor of women".
