Surprised to see this on facebook. Less surprised it was posted by my male transgendered friend.

What a dirty, purile cunt.

I asked my parents, aged four, why there’s a Mothers’ Day and a Fathers’ Day, but there isn’t a Children’s Day. “Every day is Children’s Day,” they replied, to which I stamped my foot and duly had a tantrum.

Interestingly in many East Asian countries they have all three, and largely harmonious societies.

Interestingly she hasn't outgrown her tantrums yet.

"Every day is Men's Day."

Her parents were 4 years old?? Wow, she is such a great "journalist”!

The family of a friend of mine celebrated Children's Day once a year, in Ireland.

I rather like how Valentine's day works in Japan from what I've learned, girls give chocolate to boys to show their interest and on white day (1 month later) boys reciprocate.

There's several spelling or grammatical mistakes in the article. Either that site has no editor, or she's her own editor and isn't up to the job.

Men's struggles don't need a recognition because:

1) a man (unconfirmed that the person was actually a man) wrote mean things to me once.

2) two other men (again unconfirmed) were mean to my colleagues (or possibly the same 'man')

3) my parents chose not to recognize June 1st as children's day.

4) people wrongfully think that gender equality means equal opportunity for both men and women.

But what is precious is reading through the comment section. People are waking up!

I think you're right! The tide is turning :)

A woman writing about how Men shouldn't do/celebrate things. Imagine that.

[–]double-happiness 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

When the women involved questioned whether a single day was really necessary to bolster the interests and achievements of men

I don't know precisely what IMD was supposed to be about, but I highly doubt it supposed to be about men's 'interests and achievements'.

You've touched on something very important and underhand that's going on. If you google any mens rights activist, the top results will always be very anti-MRA articles. Try googling Paul Elam or Karen Straughan.

Same here, an article posted 15 hours ago is more higher ranked than one posted 11mins ago

Part of the top article (the title actually appeared pro-MRA to me, about a mans struggle in a feminist world)

Despite 15 years of observance, in some quarters it is still argued that the commemoration of International Men's Day is a moot point and that attention is better focused on the issues of women and girls, who, as a group, remain vulnerable to various manifestations of patriarchy from which men benefit.

Heres google for me (in New Zealand)

It seems like what mras talk about is at least acknowledged with the paragraph that mentions "a positive MRM would be hard press to talk about:" but it all reads as screw men because I'm a female journalist and I got mean tweets and mras are responsible(though "so-called" was used).

The article in the middle of the jpg is what I posted, after searching again the 3rd article shows up in the top news now

Google are sexist against men. Which is really to say that Google are geeks with little understanding of social dynamics (just look at Glass for an example). They still think that not being sexist means agreeing with whatever a woman says. As with many socially inept people they don't understand what they are getting wrong but Google does have a lot of influence. So any attempt to point out the obvious sexism of supporting women's days but not men's day would be met with condescention.

Fuck this, I'm going back to my shithole country where people have REAL problems and women aren't a bunch of whiny privileged pieces of shit.

This article was already posted in this sub too, by the way.

[–]tallwheel 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It doesn't work if you use an archived link like OP did.

[–]TomBayes 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Please, don't use Google's top results as a political statement. Google tailors its search results to the individual searching. It says a lot more about your search habits than it does Google's political outlook as a company.

If you search using a non tailored search engine, such as DuckDuckGo, you will find what you should expect: information about International Men's Day.

[–]cmumford 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Just do the search in an incognito window - generic results - well they may use your general location, but that's about it.

[–]Capitalsman[S] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Youtube always recommends sargon, gad saad, and random mra and anti feminism videos so I would think google would be similar.

[–]Rethgil 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Er, seriously?! Google is known to bias it's results according to many other influences such as paid advertising and political influence.
