The only comment on Imgur was someone stating "That's one interpretation. Can another be that so many scholarship exist because of some form of systemic discrimination?"

First off, can it be proven that there are less women in STEM because of "systemic discrimination"? Maybe women simply choose other educations?

Secondly, you're attempting to combat discrimination with more intentional discrimination?

So you're advocating in favor of discrimination in response to something that may be discrimination?

EDIT: This actually really pisses me off. This is literal discrimination out in the open, funded by the government. And... seemingly nobody cares?

Scholarships are meant as incentives. The logic follows that women would need more incentive if they are underrepresented in STEM. I don't think this has anything to do with discrimination to be honest.

Edit: "The logic follows" means that that is how the logic follows to them and is not necessarily representative of my opinion. I know there are illogical reasons why this scholarship disparity exists.

Everyone who thinks women are discriminated against in STEM majored in Indonesian Basket Weaving Studies. They feel discriminated against because they either didn't even try or couldn't hack it and now work as baristas.

I'm recalling a conversation between engineering students. The women in the group were annoyed with the professors as there were little extra encouragements and comments that the men were not getting. They didn't like the extra as they wanted to be treated based on merit and they could not be sure that was happening. The men in the group were surprised this was happening. This conversation happened in the 1990's.

As a woman in STEM, within the system you're treated very well and given way more opportunities upon graduation (I actually doubt anyone denies that within the system). I'm pretty sure people might think sexist stuff occasionally but none of it ever affected me and any negative thoughts are generally kept to themselves.

If there's any discrimination it's generally from outside the system/the older generation. I don't directly work with customers but if I did they'll probably trust a guy more than me, but you can't really change stuff like that by force.

I've only worked for a few years though, not sure how senior management is.

Yeah, I mean I get that they're unrepresented but what happened to merit? If they were good enough, they'd be there by now, it worked for Putin.
