Hmm...dunno. It's an odd case to be sure, but there where a lot of witnesses and they caught him on the spot at the scene. I'm inclined to fill this under 'odd, but explicable'.

Originally I was going to go with the majority of commenters, but there are some serious issues with the case.

He's a French national (supposedly) who plead guilty to sexual assault. Problem is that the witnesses reported the woman wasn't hurt. Seems odd that a person could be both sexually assaulted and not hurt.
That means he was initially incorrectly charged and / or doesn't have a good enough grasp of the language and / or had ineffective counsel. What lawyer would have their client plead guilty to a crime he didn't commit and couldn't be convicted of assuming the trial was fair.
He has a possible defenses of she likes it rough, we were struggling over something else, etc. Those are not things the witnesses can speak to. The evidence would be hearsay at best.

Is he guilty? Probably. Guilty of what specifically and beyond a reasonable doubt is another matter altogether.
