I don't like it one bit. It's each individual's responsibility to say no. There is no unethical legislations being pushed to make that happen where men are fighting to correct; and there are no efforts to block any awareness of this against men being ignored by this issue.

I have conflicted feelings about the group raising awareness https://www.thecalmzone.net ; there are many positive things about it, like raising awareness, making support lines available and private, but at the same time, there are more than a handful messages that's quite alarming, hints of validating ideologues like "harmful social constructs of gender" and "toxic masculinity".

Hmm... This gets me thinking about a few different things. First yes within "male circles" there are people that thing you should drink manly. I personally do not drink beer so I get a little rib and I used to get ribbed by friends over it. I can't stand the carbonation and fizz of it so I always drink hard liquor (gin or whiskey). Drinking culture is very strange. I was out one night and was sipping a Manhattan on rocks through the straw. A drunk friend came up and asked me abut it. I told him I was taking it easy since I had been working for 16 hours before hitting the bar and was already tired. He proceeded to pull the stir straws out of the glass, toss them on the ground, and tell me to "drink it like a man you fuck!". So yes there are asses who think if you did not down 10 shots or do a keg stand that you are not drinking manly enough.

HOWEVER!! Drinking issues are not exclusive to masculine men and I have laid eyes on some crazy drunk girls as I'm sure everyone has. Also the masculine red neck Budweiser boys are usually not the drunks that are mixing it with party/club drugs. Acting like this is a strictly gendered issues is ridiculous. If a girl does not drink or pop a pill her friends call her a prude and pressure her as much as the guys pressure guys. "It's just Zanex little girl. I can't believe how boring you are." Both sexes need to learn to handle peer pressure and not blame society for their a few assholes, male and female, that want you to be as addicted as they are.
