Wait.. How did "Zach find himself convicted of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct charges" If HER parents agreed he did nothing wrong, and want the case dropped? How were charges pressed in the first place? Something doesn't add up.. Also, never plead guilty if you're not guilty. No jury would have convicted this kid for being strung along and lied to. This wasn't a Chris Hansen "Take a seat over there" situation.

Also what's totally fucked in my eyes is this glaring hypocrisy: "Marriage. It is a defense to a charge of consensual sexual activity with a person under the age of 16 (or a student age 16 or 17) that the defendant and the child are married. (Mich. Comp. Laws Ann. §§ 750.520d, 750.520e, 750.520l.)"

Really Michigan? So under 16 they're too young to consent to sex.. But marriage? Not a problem, age is not an issue.. Get that marriage certificate signed and it's worry free 8th grade fuck fest. Our justice system is so ridiculous it that I can't distinguish it from satire anymore.

There's a twist to this story that literally no media source I've seen has mentioned. That being that Zachary's defense is that he believed the girl to be 17...and then crossed state lines to have sex with her, which automatically invokes the federal 18 year age of consent.

So by his own "defense" he admits to comitting exactly the crime he was charged with, just under state law instead of federal.

That doesn't' make the charge any less ridiculous, but it's an additional depth to the story that the media appears to be ignoring in favor of a more sensational narrative.

I also have a difficult time believing the girl and her family were opposed to the prosecution. It would be nearly impossible to prosecute the kid without the girl cooperating pretty extensively.

On top of everything else, this kind of ruling is pretty barbaric. I mean, even Obama is pushing that internet should be in every house, pretty much a utility, like water and electricity. They might as well say he can't live in a house with electricity.

I find it fucking stupid that the state will press charges, when the one who would be considered a victim, and even her family state they do not want to press charges.
