The Economist: adly educated men in rich countries have not adapted well to trade, technology or feminism

What a flagrantly sexist piece of anti-male garbage. As if the men who once toiled in cotton fields and mills in order to keep women and children clothed and fed were enjoying some sort of special Patriarchal privilege for having the strength to perform hard manual labor. And now that society has all but completely abandoned them because they no longer need that labor, the Economist sympathizes with some woman who sits on her fat ass at her cushy job complaining about how the men don't do nothin'. Well, you ungrateful pig with your cushy job, how about getting off your fat lazy ass and supporting these men the way they once had supported you?

Besides, the only reason why these women can afford to take on this attitude of not needing a man in their lives is because they already receive the benefit of other men's labor, care of the government. With their heavily subsidized health coverage and plethora of social safety nets that are simply unavailable to men, they and their white knight enablers now gloat about how they supposedly don't need a man. This is a sort of hatred of poor men that is only really possible in rich countries. In poor countries, the men and women would still be in it together.

And besides, since when did "gender equality" mean that every woman is still entitled to a husband who earns more money than her? The Economist author should take an remedial combinatorics class to learn how to count. Moreover, what exactly did "gender equality" have to do with men losing manual labor jobs due to automation and globalization? Seems to me that it's the women who have failed to adjust their expectations and start pulling their own weight in a society that depends on mutual support. You can bet your ass that the next time good paying jobs come around that men are better suited at than women, all of these men will remember how they were treated when the tables were turned.

The article raises awareness of male problems, but definitely embraces the feminist point of view. Men are blamed for failing, and this is reinforced with the apex fallacy. Custody and reproductive law heavily favor women, but this is not given as a reason why fathers are separated or distance themselves from their children. The article did not show the extent that schools and workplaces have been feminized. It claims women are wonderful, but not that women are advantaged. It expounds the female people skills, but none of the skills that place men at the top. It glossed over that women can simply marry up, but that option is not available to men because most women demand money before giving love.

I just read the article. A few good points but 90% of it is blaming men. Nothing will change even though we all know that men and boys are discriminated against and denigrated by the media, including the Economist.

Western society is rapidly contracting and will die out. It is not possible to reconcile the current gender roles with a growing society.

I am not scare mongering and does it really matter? But die out it will.

What this article is really showing is a just a window on the cost that the gender wars are having on Western society, and that its not that men haven't adapted well - they've adapted too well!

Note that many men are simply refusing to play the game that is stacked against them, especially when you consider that "of the 30 occupations expected to grow fastest in America in the coming years, women dominate 20". Of course, none of this has to do with men being excluded from these professions - such as nursing or teaching, right? Then the article goes on to note that many men turn to crime when they live in a society that disrespects them. Hmmm - wonder why?

If one moves beyond the article, in nearly every major western society, the gender wars are turning out to be lethal to the societies they are happening in.

In USA, divorce rates and unfair marriage laws are creating an entire generation of boys that will never have a male role model or dual parent households.

In Canada and Australia, all sections of the countries have become men deserts, as men take jobs in remote areas of said countries or flee the country altogether for better job prospects elsewhere.

In Scandinavia, hypergamy running amok has created a whole generation of women that will never marry, with even the matriarchy outlawing foreign brides in a desperate attempt to boost the domestic pool of available men

In Japan, whole sections of the male population have adopted the MGTOW philosophy while the country struggles with high debt and suicides.

Western societies are on the ropes and are down for the count.

Recently, the Economist have become so feminist, I had to unsubscribe. I won't even click at the article. A couple of years ago I remember reading at the Economist about men becoming walking sperm banks, or something. After that I just waited till my subscription expired and did not renew.

Universal basic income is now one of the most critical issues in mens rights. Mens work will be appreciated only after it can no longer be taken for granted. Give a generation of men a monthly stipend, free licence to sit on their ass and play video games all day long, and this attitude will change a week after employers have to raise wages just to get men off the couch.
