In what way have women historically suffered from marriage in ways that were unfair compared to men? That's what I'd like to know. Right in the opening line it's stated as if we all know it's true, but there isn't any strong evidence to support it.

It sounds idiotic until you understand the way an SJW's brain works. They don't see people as people, only as allies or enemies in the holy war against the mythical monster of patriarchy. It's the same sort of mindset of a radical communist or a religious fanatic.

Kind of a strange article.

But it does touch a little bit on something. Same-sex marriage was the easy thing. The queer movement wasn't making progress anywhere else (and still isn't) such as civil rights laws covering employment, housing, credit, accommodations, etc. The three big changes this century in the USA were sodomy laws, the hate crimes act, and military service.

Marriage is going to give gay couples something to fight back with, when they are discriminated against (as a couple). It can't be understated how important it is.

However, it comes at the expense of gay singles, or people in other forms of relationship. Being forced to be outsiders to marriage, gay people had an opportunity to work with singles to level the playing field, and get government out of our lives. But it didn't happen (and let's be honest, last century we weren't exactly welcome, so it's not all on us). Things would be better for men now, had the queer movement focused on individual liberty, instead of couple equality. That said, gay couples are going to change divorce law, because the easy gender bias won't be present.
