a lot of the reactions you're going to get are going to pretty strongly resemble different flavors of SJW blather.

I'm gonna need an example because I'm simply not familiar with this type of reaction. I figure if you said, "companies shouldn't be allowed to hide taxable income in the Bahamas." The response you would most likely get is something like, "people shouldn't feel like they have to hide their taxable income in the Bahamas." What they wouldn't do is take to twitter and try to ruin your life through threats, baseless accusations, boycotts, public shaming, etc.

a lot of the fundamental principles informing the behaviors that I object to as a men's rights advocate tend to be pretty darned apolitical.

I kind of get what you're saying here because I believe most of the fundamental principles informing the behaviors you and I object to are most certainly selfishly motivated. But the ideology that allows for these people to operate in a self-serving manner is that of the liberal left. For example, women pushing for subsidized birth control or Hispanics pushing for open boarders.

Have you ever actually tried going to a conservative forum and seeing the reaction, or are you guessing what it might be? From my experience, posting dissenting opinions on a far-left forum will eventually get you banned and your posts deleted (how long that takes and how much abuse is hurled your way before it happens varies, but it always happens sooner or later), while posting dissenting ideas on conservative forums tends to result in debate that stays (for the most part) at the level of civility you set. People are almost never banned, and they tend to respond with facts and discussion.

PS: I'm agnostic myself but I'd argue America was at least built with Judeo-Christian values, and I'm opposed to forcing companies to have to hide things overseas because of the massive taxes and regulations in the US. If we had easy to understand corporate taxes with few or no loopholes that was competitive with most other nations, there be no reason to hide money overseas. Create incentives and remove disincentives and the money will stay here.

I actually haven't tried that on conservative forums, I was referring more to the IRL lines of reasoning involved.

"Liberals want to take 'under god' out of the pledge of allegiance for no other reason than they hate Christians"

.....is fundamentally the same as.....

"MRAs want to give men accused of rape basic legal protections for no other reason than they hate women".

"We can't have gay marriage because that would make Jesus cry"

.....is fundamentally the same as.....

"We can't have a fair family court system because that would make Margaret Sanger's distilled spirit cry".

"Liberals want to tax the rich not because it makes the most sense, but because they want to punish people for their success"

.....is fundamentally the same as.....

"MRAs want to end women-only scholarships not because they're no longer necessary but because they want to hold women down".

I just see it all as being enforced by the same "special snowflake", "I'm personally offended or impacted negatively in some way, therefore you're obligated to change your behavior to accomadate" mentality.

I'm not religious myself, but I've found opposition to gay marriage comes down to 3 main points:

1) It changes the accepted definition, which is to them a holy sacrament, to a new definition that is expressly forbidden and deemed sinful. That change also sets the precedent for further changes, such as polygamy. (If the "man & woman" part of the definition can be altered, it won't be long until the "2 people" part is changed too, and possibly other parts. Considering the family unit is the basic building block of society and we are already seeing drastic declines in marriage, watering down the definition until its a meaningless grouping of 2 or more people of any combination of genders is driving a stake through the heart of the institution's solemnity and sacredness.

2) It might well open them to lawsuits. We have seen freedom of religion under attack in this country and others for decades. From tearing crosses off war memorials to stigmatizing the pledge of allegiance for containing "under God" to lawsuits against bakeries, photographers, wedding venues, and Hobby Lobby, the opponents of religion are growing bolder all the time. Considering how willing people are to repeal or make exceptions for parts of the Bill of Rights they don't like, and the fact that churches are tax-free institutions which gives the govt leverage over them to make changes or else repeal that status, they are right to be concerned. In Canada, judges have already ruled certain passages from the Bible to be "hate speech" and it can be prosecuted if spoken or written in public.

3) Now, the first 2 reasons above can be cause for alarm whether you are a believer or not. This last one requires certain beliefs though, and it is that God may punish the entire country if the sinning becomes too great, like Sodom and Gomorrah.

So, when you said "my church will be forced to recognize unions it finds un-biblical" or "it will undermine a sacred tradition", those are summaries of the first 2 reasons above, while "It will make Jesus cry" is a satirical version of #3. Individuals may believe in some, none, or all those reasons (personally, I think #1 and 2 are valid social and real-world concerns but #3 is far-fetched because I don't believe in a god, so it irked me a bit to see what I feel are real, valid concerns trivialized as "Jesus will cry", which is a satirization of a completely different concern, one that is not commonly shared by all people opposed to gay marriage).

Many are not, but there are some liberals here who, while they've been burned by the feminist ideology in the courts, child custody, divorce, maybe jobs and promotions, etc and have thus seen through it and now are opposed to feminism, they still subscribe to the rest of the liberal ideology. In fact, I'd bet there are still some here who plan to vote for Hillary if she is the Dem candidate, no matter how bad she'll be for men's rights, because they like some of her other positions. I think some of this is due to misinformation (put out by the left) about what conservatives believe in, and why. Maybe Matt Clark and I and some other conservatives here should do an AMA to dispel some of the myths about conservatives so that, even if they remain liberals in all but men's rights, they won't feel so terrible about possibly associating with folks like us (y'know, all us conservatives supposedly want the Earth to burn up, have polluted air and water like some Captain Planet villain, want kids to starve and people to be homeless, want to give tons more money to rich people, want to control women's bodies, etc, etc... none of that is true)
