Cases like this need to be looked at as "teacher has sex with underage student" and not specify the gender. They should be represented only by an attorney and the jury shouldn't know gender, only the facts of the case. That is the only way that these cases will be sentenced equally, but that will obviously never happen.

I am glad they are now sentencing male/female violators the same, but I wish they had brought men's sentences down rather than womens up. Now they have to bring both of them down.

This has already been posted. The majority of the comments on the earlier posting were along the lines of the sentence being out of proportion to the crime and that this is not made any better by the fact that it is the sort of thing that men normally have to deal with.

At the end of the article it says ,"She was thrown in prison with killers and pedophiles" . Um what does she think she is. I felt they were trying to make the teachers out to be the victims in the whole article.

I was listening ot some talk about this earlier, about we need to start seeing more boys as victims of sex abuse and what-not. I've heard about how it affects girls and guys the same, but the inner processes are divergent.

But you guys have to understand the main reason girls are made out to be victims is because if this message wasn't pushed, more verile men would pursue younger girls. There is a HUGE push to limit men on who they're allowed to date. This is primarily why so many sex offense cases are centered around how bad men are. We're the ones they're trying to control.

The message isn't "sex between an adult and a minor is wrong" , the message is "Older men aren't allowed to have be intimate (sans sex even) with a young female."

This is why its taken society so long to try to compensate for the oversight. In fact I don't think they'll ever be sweeping reform to the way female offenders are prosecuted.

I'll say the same thing I said the last time this was posted. I would say the same thing if it were a male teacher and female student. First of all, sex with a 15 year old does not make one a pedophile - a 15 year old is an adolescent. Second, this is absurd oversentencing no matter who the perpetrator is.

It's so sad that this judge has just ended her potential for appointment to a federal court.

Don't even know her politics, meaning which President would appoint her, but having a judge that can actually sentence in the neutral manner required by the law and constitution is more than most judges.

However: Title is clickbait. She is not a pedophile. Statutory rape is not child molestation.
