I wonder if the mods should add a 'media bias' flair for these kinds of posts. They pop up frequently enough to warrant their own category, IMHO.

The intention of this appears to be to imply to a skim-reader that men did it, and that women are always victims and are angels. I don't know why they want to do this but it does seem to be common practice at newspapers and news websites. For example The BBC recently referred to a lesbian couple who murdered a young girl as a 'couple' and to one of the women as the other's 'partner' - making it seem as though the other person involved was a man. We see examples like this a lot on here - men are referred to as 'people' when the victim and 'men' when the aggressor. Women are the reverse - they are often genderless when they are violent and 'girls' or 'women' when they are victims.

While it may start off like that, it's not consistent, eg:

She is eventually thrown to the ground, and the girls kick and stomp on her head and call her “b****”, as dozens of rowdy teens egg the girls on and do nothing to stop the attack. The victim is left cowering under a table, and is carried by fellow teens and placed on a bench.

Saw a similar story that happened in Seatle. Headlines read "Woman savagely beaten and robed in the street!"... oh my god the increasing violence against wo- oh her attackers were two random young females... never mind then. I guess anyone can be perpetrators or victims of crimes. Whodathunkit.

it doesn't refer to them as girls, but this thing should have them tried as women, not girls(Also does not only call them teens). This is disgusting and people doing this should be tried as adults. The psychological damage from this is ten times worse than the physical one.

I don't see anything in this story that indicates the reporter was trying to hide the fact the perpetrators were teen girls. In fact, any producer/online editor worth his or her snuff would have wanted to see more focus on gender because it is against stereotype and would generate more web traffic.

It does say they were girls. After the 2nd video the first sentence of the first paragraph: "She is eventually thrown to the ground, and the girls kick and stomp on her head and call her “b****”, as dozens of rowdy teens egg the girls on and do nothing to stop the attack."

This is stupid - it goes on to say she was beaten by four OTHER teens.
