Guilds/frats/clans among men should be popular

Like a frat, but for adults with jobs. I feel like being together will have everyone striving to accomplish more, helping each other. I think this would be pretty cool and wonder why it's not a thing in society, but getting a studio apartment and living alone is.

What are your thoughts on this? Maybe I'm imagining too much of guilds from video games and TV.

There used to be many of them.

Because women invariably criticize, protest, sue, and push their way into these organizations, then demand that the clubs change to suit women, making them unappealing for men. This has been going on since the 1960s.

Don't get me wrong: I'd support such guilds, if they're willing to ride out that storm and battle through to victory, if only to say a big "fuck you" to feminist douchebags who will try to destroy them.

[–]gains_o_clock5 points6 points  (13 children) | Copy

what were some of these groups that used to exist?

[–]BPasFuck12 points13 points  (7 children) | Copy

The Masons.

The Elks Lodge.

Various named clubs in NYC, Chicago, London, Savannah, GA, Augusta, GA, and a bajillion other freakin' places I can't think of or recall.

Seriously. There were many many many in just about every community.

[–]UncleChido7 points8 points  (6 children) | Copy

Masons still exists. Don’t they?

[–]InfiniteSpur14 points15 points  (5 children) | Copy

Yes, and they still only accept men. Women are now allowed to join the Elks, which is probably a contributing factor to their decline.

Male only organizations are quickly dying, while women's organizations are growing in every industry and hobby.

[–]BPasFuck5 points6 points  (4 children) | Copy

Pretty much this. The Masons still exist, but are going to be extinct soon. Not enough young men joining.

[–]UncleChido4 points5 points  (3 children) | Copy

How does one join them. I would like to.

[–]BPasFuck4 points5 points  (0 children) | Copy

Find a masons' lodge in your community, and ask one of them.

Alternatively, I googled 'How to join the freemason's' and a bunch of handy looking websites popped up. Go for it.

Edited to add: Masons I've talked to have told me they tend to be leery of guys who think they're going to leverage the organization to pump up their sales numbers or whatever the fuck. So, if you do join, try and join with an eye toward just wanting to take part in whatever social schedule they have, and make sure you volunteer to help out with their charity efforts.

[–]bouncebby 1 points1 points [recovered] | Copy

historically you had to be invited by another member. But these days their numbers are so low you just need to call their office and ask about joining.

Be warned though.. the masons lodge I looked into joining only had a few sad old guys and younger socially awkward incel types. That was fucking disappointing. Not to mention their monthly magazine was painfully trying to highlight their community involvement with women's and children's charities. No mention of any support for down and out males.

[–]UncleChido2 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy

Whoa. Such a nice discouragement.

[–]batfish5511 points12 points  (0 children) | Copy

Start at the beginning. The fucking Boy Scouts are taking girls now. The only reason living under a rock in a studio apartment by yourself is a thing is because the fucking fems can't track you down and demand inclusion.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (2 children) | Copy

Boy Scouts.

[–]gains_o_clock2 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy

oh yeah that's so fricking stupid can boys join the girl scouts?? I don't think so but of course they can invade

[–]ppanthero1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

Can't tell you names. But in my country there used to exist gentlemen clubs, cigar lounges and literaric and scientific circles which were men only.

[–]redd_reality29 points30 points  (0 children) | Copy

The lack of popular male groups is not due to red tape or legislation, but more of a reflection of the current male values system.

Nearly every average man is utterly plugged into the matrix. He sees no reason to go hang with other men, because on one hand, he's intimidated by other men and on the other hand, those who he surrounds himself with would convince him it is silly.

Start a guild at your job or something if u want. They have to be lvl 100 to join though, no noobs allowed.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children) | Copy

What is the common interest that will bond all these brofessionals together?

[–]Jsieijejeieokkd14 points15 points  (1 child) | Copy

Freemasons? They have women’s divisions I think but mostly are men.

[–]Nergaal0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

How do they work? Do they have an entrance fee and entry exam?

[–]markmcccc6 points7 points  (0 children) | Copy

My dad and brother are members of an elks lodge. That's pretty much a frat for older guys. They drink, have BBQ's and do charity stuff. Also, women aren't allowed to be members.

[–]randarrow6 points7 points  (0 children) | Copy

You mean like fraternal orders?

[–]russelln3 points4 points  (0 children) | Copy

There's a male exclusive charity club sort of thing in my city. Seems like a great networking opportunity.

Guild has to be one of the cringiest words out there

[–]lillojohn3 points4 points  (1 child) | Copy

Why? It is just like an organization. Is that word also cringy?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Just from nerds talking about world of Warcraft and similar things. It's just a more perma-virgin way of saying organisation.

Groups like these have lost a lot of popularity over the years; due to a multitude of reasons.

It’s in our best interest to try and bring them back.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child) | Copy

well yeh, the original post

[–]Dustin_Bromain1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

Yes.

They are rare those days but they are out there.

Just start with a sport that is naturally uninteresting to women or just way to hard for most of them to handle like most martial arts.

I train boxing five times a week and the philosophy there is very similar to what you’re describing. Im only 21 but there are loads of adult men who come everyday to train, workout and hang with the boys and they’re all very friendly. It’s a sort of a family mentality there and a sense of comradeship when you train and suffer together.

We train together, go to the gym together, run together and have a good time. There are also some women but there aren’t many of them since most of them find the sport to be way to hard for them.

A few ladies that remain are in my case very red pilled younger girls who don’t like hanging out with women and their bullshit and would rather spend their afternoons hanging with the guys.

I was in Poland in December for an ice man training by Wim Hof. It was all about dealing with the cold. Meditating in ice water, climbing Polands highest mountain wearing only shorts, no shirt, with a temperature of -9 (due to the wind the feeling temperature was -34).

The group of guys we did this with grew really close in a few days. Hardship is the basis of good friendship. I was yearning for an experience like this and thought the military was the only way, so I was very very happy to come across this.

A video game guild will never have the same strength, because no actual hardship is involved.

We need to go back to manlike activities, such as dealing with nature.

[–]dozzering 1 points1 points [recovered] | Copy

That sounds badass. There should be more retreats like that. How was it?

[–]Morphs_0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Honestly it was the most awesome experience of my life. Not only on a physical level, also on a mental level.

We had some deep work meditations that had even the most badass guys crying their guts out.

If you like to experience a connection between the core alpha-ism that is inside you and nature, this is the way to bring it out.

Like boy scouts.

My 50cents... A lot of "groups" have moved to online and therefore the need to meet in person as a group as disappeared. And factor in that any Joe blow and plane Jane can become anyone online...

This in turn has dissolved groups in general and therefore the value of them.

The focus has become more information...

Trying to start a whiskey tasting in my living room for men only. Irish whiskey themed soon! We usually talk about manly shit and politics and philosophy.

Hopefully it can be done in one's living room.

I've been in some men's groups through my church. One of them has a quasi-RP flavor - they don't advocate spinning plates obviously, but they do advocate working on yourself, raising your value, not pedestalizing women, etc. It's actually a great group of guys.

The old school men's refuges are all going away for the most part because they've been trivialized and made "uncool" and the guys that rose to leaderships roles in the last 20 years weren't up to the challenge of maintaining the dignity of their organizations. It's actually very sad.

[–]FemtoG0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Cigar bars seem to fulfill this need.

The bar down the street from my place is always full of guys.

[–]Jsieijejeieokkd0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

I don’t really know just go see them. I’ve known a couple, pretty good dudes.

[–]AmazonExplorer0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

I think in an ever more globalized, atomized, male-hostile world this can only make sense. But it's probably best that it's centered around some common goal or hobby.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
