Where is this mainstream society where people aren't "marginalised, troubled people who have found it difficult to manage their lives"? That is mainstream society, there is not some core block of society who don't have issues or problems, there are only different blocks of society with similar and often interconnecting issues. To presume that somehow this industry and its consumers stand out from others is horribly presumptuous and naive on the state of a society as a whole.

people say they are shooting their-self in the foot. They are not. Hollywood has long been a liberal shit hole pushing their own political opinions and agendas. But they continue to make billions. I think the future for games will be the same. Good games will still be made but they will sow in a bunch of their own propaganda.

Those of us who analyze media can see that TV ads always present men as stupid and good for nothing. 99% of people who watch TV have no idea. The same will happen for games.
