I felt like this deserved its own post.

Over on r/InclTear there was a comment by a user over there, where she talks about what she doesn't understand about how incls think. Her comment captures some common misconceptions, so I wanted to respond to them here, "correcting the record" in a way. Here's the comment:

I don’t get why they think sex with a woman will fix all their problems. Sex is so not the most important thing in life, but they make it like w/o it, they seriously can’t function. It’s sex. It can be fun. It can feel good. If you’re with someone you love, it can be very intimate. There’re also a million other things that can have similar results. I don’t get the obsession with the sex thing…

Here's my response:

I don’t get why they think sex with a woman will fix all their problems.

The answer is that they don't think sex will fix all their problems. Nor do they think sex is the "most important thing in life." It's just that one of their "problems" is not having the sex that they want, and it is relatively important to them (sex is relatively important for most people). Not the most important, but "up there" in importance.

Sex will fix their not having sex problem, which is completely reasonable.

There’re also a million other things that can have similar results.

I'd disagree: there aren't a whole lot of things that are just as good as sex. For example, in contrast, hot sauce? Sure, there are many kinds so going without a certain brand isn't a big deal. Sure, masturbation can be enjoyable, but it is not nearly as enjoyable as good sex with an enthusiastic partner.
