After, roughly, college age, men don't typically treat each other any type of way anymore. Once you get outside of the artificially small and clique-ish social world created by school environments and small towns, you're friends with people you like and largely get to ignore/be ignored by everyone else. And if you get lots of girls, you have better things to do than hang out with a bunch of men on a regular basis anyway.

I honestly can't imagine what kind of neurosis exists in the minds of any straight man who would take the second option.
