I've watched companies fall all over themselves to hire women in IT with no skills. They give them a laptop and not much of anything to do. They get hired to prove there is no gender discrimination. And they make sure to pay them more then the men.

Ig every company sees your skills and requirements for the company before hiring, and your salary is dependent on your achievements related to that field, and skills. So, if a women getting underpayed, it mean she lacks enough skills to be in same level as a man. And i am not saying, women can't be skilled, many are. But those who bargain about getting less paid are probably don't have enough skills.

As an engineer, in the discussions I have had regarding compensation with female peers in my career, not once has there been a single instance of a "pay gap" being present.

Further, the companies salivated to hire female engineers, to the extent that they actually paid the few female engineers we had to go to local elementary and high schools to "recruit" (really it was grooming) females to STEM. I have never understood what value this added to the company other than giving female engineers a boondoggle activity.
