In my early to mid twenties I was a bit of a slob, but that comes with youth. I'm certainly not a perfectionist neat freak, but I keep a clean and tidy place.

I'm a single man that's working at a fairly decent paying job, own my own car and house. By not getting married I have the extra cash to do wood working, gunsmithing, hunting, fishing, and hiking in the nearby mountains. I never get nagged to hang out with some extremely annoying friends of a woman that feel the need to degrade me to elevate themselves or do some other really dumb shit just to keep some harpy off my back. I may not be all that handsome but as a former infantryman I'm in pretty good shape and have the confidence to pull some pelt at the bars when I feel the need to get some strange.

The funny thing is, while I've definitely met some guys who are jerks (terrible people come in both sexes), most men I met are wonderful. I've never had trouble finding awesome single men. So I was wondering, how is it these FDS types always seem to meet the worst men? And I think there are two reasons. 1: I try to live a good life. I try to be healthy, I like to volunteer, I go to church, I enjoy the outdoors. So I tend to meet men who have similar values to me. 2: I focus on the good in people. If you spend all your time thinking about garbage, you're probably going to notice more garbage because that's what your focus is on. Spend all your time complaining about men, and you're only going to notice the worst in the ones you meet.

When I was single, my apartment was clean, picked up and never a mess. I would even dust and wipe off blades on the ceiling fans. Even now that I’m married, I keep the kitchen and floors clean. Besides a few clothes and food shopping I didn’t go shopping very much so I had very few things. I would constantly sell stuff on eBay in order to keep my stuff to a minimum. So much for squalor. As for fast food, I’m not a fan and would rather make my own hamburgers and the like. I also homebrewed when I was single and it lead to no ogling of women. Never killed anyone (BTW John Wayne Gacy, Dennis Rader, Chris Watts, Scott Peterson and Gary Ridgway were all married). Before I met my wife I had a casual sexual relationship with a 25 year old woman who was not an Instagram model.

When I met my wife her very small rental house was a bit cluttered, especially the kitchen where she didn’t have the cabinet space for all her kitchen stuff. The upstairs had mostly her brothers stuff since he was going through a divorce. She worked and hung out at a bar with her friends. She didn’t really travel, she went to Mexico once with her friends and that’s it and it was years before we met. She was in a small town so nothing in the way of cultural events. She doesn’t like having pets because they’re messy and she doesn’t like wine.
