I'm currently getting a salary but my company is moving me to 100% commission. I've been able to cover my salary with my sales commissions for the past several years and chose to stay on salary. I've lost a huge account and starting in January I'll be 100% commission and I'm going to have at least a 50% reduction in pay. Also, my pay will not be the same every month.

For those of you that have had a reduction in income did you deal with the court directly to reduce alimony or go through your lawyer? How long did the process take from the day you started to the day your alimony was reduced? For those that are in sales with fluctuating income each month how did that work? Did your alimony amount change every month? What did it cost you in attorney fees to get the alimony changed? I'm really worried that the process to reduce alimony will take several months where I'll have to drain my savings to cover alimony payments. I'm in California.
