You can stop paying alimony when you retire my dad is. Move overseas and retire then you can still come back to US. Should be cheap to retire most places overseas

Could you daughter or on talk to your ex to lower alimony? Did you fight it at all? My dad was paying over 10k a month and was able to get it lowered by 1000s after a few years. He didn’t even fight it the first time which was a mistake. I talked to my mom about lowering it for him which I think helped 🤷‍♀️

I am potentially in the same situation. Obscene life long spousal support payments that will ruin me financially and make it impossible to support my new partner and kids. I am considering Russia. They have a shared values visa, also known as the “anti-woke” visa, which is a quick path to citizenship. It applies to citizens of countries that Russia deems to be unfriendly to them. They are not a part of The Hague so no risk that they will enforce any international alimony agreement.

I briefly looked into this when I got silverbulleted, which in the end, didnt work.

I came to the following conclusions assuming I didnt want to risk immediate arrest upon returning to the US under my passport: 1. You would need to establish citizenship in another, non-Hague country, so basically Africa and SE Asia 2. The barriers to establishing citizenship vary widely, including the waiting periods I saw 5yr continuous residency and substantial investment as required in a few places. 3. After you got your citizenship in a separate country, go for citizenship in yet another country, basically deleting your path associated with your US citizenship/obscuring your identity. 4. Renounce your citizenship in the US if you hadn't already. 5. You could then travel internationally as a citizen of the third country with a visa and all that. In theory you should be able to just walk into the US as this foreign citizen and you'd be fine, but if youre wrong: "straight to jail". Last several times I passed through international security they didnt even need to see my passport due to facial recognition. Maybe just never come back and pay for international vacations for your kids? Easiest solution to that.

I've pretty much abandoned the idea because asset transfer is too difficult at this point. I would assume anything remaining in the US would be liened as soon as arrears began. While I do see how life in another country could be just fine, many of these other places are affordable for a reason, because theyre shitty. While I havent been to the Philippines, which is where I was considering going, from most videos I saw, it's pretty rough, despite only needing 2k/mo to live "well". This grading scale is completely arbitrary, as 2k/mo in the Phillipines is more than engineers there make, which shocked me. I did visit Thailand a few years ago and concluded I couldn't live there either - unfortunately it's just more convenient to accept our slavery in the US, having fallen for one or more scams of the system here.

I have a similar situation and opted to leave her the house and 2 kids behind and move back to my home country where it’s significantly cheaper and easier to rebuild my finances. Toughest part was the kids. I know I’ll miss them and miss their milestones. However I was not ready to live in poverty while the law forced me to pay someone most of my salary. My lawyer said the judge might let alimony slide but we’re yet to get there. My job is remote so that helps. I intend to abide to whatever the judge rules for the sake of the kids. It’s slavery my friend but nothing lasts forever.

Quick google search if you do it, that the country won't ship you back, or in some deal. Australia has this group of nations about 11 I think, that will track down people who slip out on child support.

$310k is a metric shit ton. But aside from that, I’m moving to LATM. My kids are 2 years from being done, and my ex makes a shit ton too, so I’m not moving to dodge alimony. Which, in your case, 7k is ridiculous too. Is that a temporary judgement or what she’s asking for? A vocational assessment and accusations that she is willfully un/underemployed are in order. With teens there’s no reason she can’t work, and if her father has a company that can pay you $310k, why isn’t she in an executive position there being groomed to assume her legacy? And does she walk into the office occasionally? If her parents are “giving her all she wants” can your lawyer argue that’s compensation? Does that come from their personal account or business account? If all else fails, hire a Chad to sweep her off her feet and marry her.

My kids will probably come visit occasionally, that’s the hardest part. I don’t think it’s trivial to get your assets out of country. Is your market value $310k, or are you overpaid and unable to get another job with that compensation if you weren’t employed by ex FIL anymore?

Uh, if you flee the country to skip out on court ordered alimony payments, no, you can't just come and go. You'll probably go to jail. Not good while you have children too, youre not going to be in their life much if you do that. Do your alimony payments end soon since your kids are grown and can you wait it out? What you are describing means you have to exile yourself permanently and it is illegal, like last resort stuff
