Co parenting counseling?

You can't force the other parent to coparent. Parallel parenting is an option.

As for communications, using Our Family Wizard has been a huge help for me the past five years. My ex is a terrible communicator and would during marriage would straddle conversations across email, phone, text, email and in-person and then wondered why she wasn't being effective. Everything flows through OFW unless it's a legit emergency.

I have learned that co-parenting is a myth. Sure it kinda worked in the beginning when the kids were very young. It seemed easy for us to keep the same routines we had from when we lived together.

But as the kids got older (teenager years), co-parenting broke down. We had many disagreements on certain parenting decisions and in the end, she ran her house how she wanted, and made decisions without conferring with me.

And other times, she blatantly went against our previously agreed upon decisions. E.G. dress code & make up, bedtime, concerts & sleep-overs on school nights, screen time limits, and various other healthy habits.

So perhaps counseling could work, but if it’s just done once, or a few times in the beginning, then I predict the two parents will gradually grow distant and do their own thing anyway.

For me, counseling failed miserably in the failing marriage so I see no point in anything resembling that, stbx is totally unreasonable, 7mo since separation and she's not even looking for work, wants full custody, etc. I'd put my money in making sure the custody agreements are air-tight and there is no ambiguity.
